I was fortunate to experience this venue when it showcased the cabaret talents of two sister chanteuses Emma Flynn Dandy McGee and Jamie Mac, both of whom are accomplished musicians and cabaret artists who delighted us with songs, poetry, musical theatre and comedy. For an intimate setting the Duke of George provided the ideal ambience to showcase the talents of local entertainers. The acoustics were great, the food was very good, all in all it was a most wonderful evening. If I were pressed to find a criticism it would be the line of sight was a bit of a struggle at times with a column on the side. The persons sitting closer to the stage might obscure visibility a bit too, so I was leaning this way and that to see the action. If the stage was higher that might’ve alleviated this inconvenience. The stationary bench seating is positioned perpendicular to the stage, therefore people sitting there must lean forward in a staggered fashion to see the...

OMG. What a disaster this place was for NYE. $125 a head for a Rice a Riso main course, billed as Jambalaya, and bar tables set up blocking the stage view. The manager "explained" that if we wanted to see the band (and not just the behinds of those standing) we were "free to get up and stand on the dance floor in front of the stage". Really? So we should have just paid the $50 General Admission price and not the $125 Premium ticket. Their website claims "built to rival the best blues clubs in the world". Well, we've been to some of those, and, yes, their advertising is literally correct in that's it's built with the potential to be a wonderful venue. It's just not managed as one. Bottom line is that it was a pub experience at premium jazz club prices. We won't be back until we see an Under New Management sign...

Ok, a great reception by the staff. Order taken for food but not processed so waited over an hour before anyone queried our situation. Main course arrives and all is great except for the belly pork which has no ‘crisp’. Also very bland. I query this to be told that this is the way the chef does it - what chef does belly pork without the crisp!! Ok, so a tasteless plate of food is returned in full only to be told there is no refund but I could select something else! So, a failed order, massively hungry, then served with a bland pork serving And told that I could not get a refund! My first visit to this place was a great experience, this visit has changed that - sorry, great staff but don’t treat customers...

April/23 Updated review lovely evening for couple and small groups We tested the music dinner a la carte. As expected the band was outstanding. Thoroughly enjoyed Django Jazz. Dinner was lovely. We had the Cornbread Roasted quail Beef Cheeks Lemon tarte Chocolate foundant All up with a few cocktails and a bottle of wine the bill came to $260 Highly recommended if you value great music and yummy food April/22 Lovely jazz bar and restaurant. Will come and try the food. Hop in for a drink and enjoy the music. Martini 22 dollars is a bit steep

Service is more of the wait staff being attentive to how else to convince you order some more. The "local octopus" just meant fried calamari for $28 other than being cooked straight from a plastic bag out of Woolworth’s it's so salty that we had to request for mustard to mask the unwanted extra sodium. We went there for the live music. If a restaurant would charge that high for calamari make it least edible.

Hubby and I shared the fish meal, Cajun vegetables and the chocolate brownie and gelato for dessert. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The place was fully booked and the band of the night was incredible. Absolutely first class entertainment with a ten piece band, including backup singers and a horn section.
