Gisborne Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Gisborne

Im not one to normally give ratings etc on any place but I feel others need to know before they have same experience.... I tried the Gisborne Chinese Restaurant upon alot of people's recommendations. I got the family pack + 1 extra dish and entree.

The lady first didn't put it through as a family pack just individual dishes. 🙄 Then get half way home to discover they forgot the fried rice that comes with a family meal. Then asked if we could eat in seems it had taken so long and our food would be cold- was refused and told table prices are different to take away. Along with all that their menu/serving prices online are different to what they are when I went in.. I have got home and had to air fry some of the battered food as it went soggy. It's the worst honey chicken that i have had. All it was is chicken bits, melted honey and dip it like we had too. Was hoping for the normal crunchy fried type noodle and the part where you are scrapping honey from the box. Mango chicken was disgusting, we couldn't eat it as it was just poured out from a tin. Bit sad considering they are in season. Every dish had no flavour. Even their prawn crackers were disgusting..

Very disappointed in the overall service and food. Especially for $115.

For that price I would have travelled an hour away to a place I know I can eat in and consistently get great food...

What a monumental waste of money. First time trying out this place and we will never return. Food was absolutely tasteless, never have I had such bad and disappointing Chinese take-away. The dim sims were very unappealing and the only apparent difference between a 'chicken chow mien' dish and a 'chicken, veg and cashew nut' dish were the cashews! Usually good Chinese food is tasty and you are keen to go back for second and third mouthfuls. Not here. Such a waste of money, the majority of it ended...

Normally really good, but forgot the crispy noodles with the chow mein, which I feel is pretty important. Lemon chicken was nice, short soup was mush and bland. Really disappointed tonight.
