Red and I had to scoot out to Gisborne on a hay carting mission. Sure, we were a bit dusty from a big night on the town, but the nags needed feed, and you know how that goes! The mighty VT gave no complaints as we loaded her up with a ton of big bales, but I hadn't eaten all day, so I was approaching death's door. It's hard to go past a small town chip shop burger, so the choice was easy. The last burger on the menu board is always the biggest one, and that's what I went for. They call it a Jumbo burger at the GisborneFish Shop, and it's got all the stuff in it, including a potato cake! (If you just read that and thought, "It's a potato scallop," just know you're wrong) Anyways, I grabbed one of those and a few fried treats, and Red got a souva. Sure, the horses were hungry, too, but they could wait. Fate had put this delicious burger in my hand, I was wasting no further time. I'm happy to report that our tucker was magnificent. Get yourself around this joint if you're hungry, or even just to have a chat with old mate behind the counter. Nice bloke, good food.

Stopped here on the way to Melbourne looking for something to eat late on a Monday night. After a quick google search and some weird directions by google we managed to find this shop. As you can only compare the same type of shop to the same type of shop.this fish and chip shop well deserved the five star rating. Great food, Nice staff, clean shop. Table and chair on the street and easy parking. Recommended

Our first night take away dinner, coming from southeast suburb for couple night. We ordered a pack for one and couple snacks to add. Good enough seasonings and cooked well especially calamari! Friendly service and young girl was happy to give me a dim sim instead of a potato cake when I said I don’t eat it.

We ordered 2 fish (and I was told it was Flake), $8.00 chips (were okay) 2 potato cakes (which were thin and almost obscure in their crunchy batter), and a fish cake (which was excellent). I am well acquainted with flake fitting the Victorian/ Australian definition and it's texture. The texture of Ours was totally consistent with Mullet. It looked substantial in size (length) but the fillet was quite thin and not the most pleasant eating experience. The young staff were very pleasant and helpful. I think the owner needs to review his business practices as I rarely ever complain about businesses in this way. The 4.4 out of 5 is undeserved in my experience. There are 3 other fish and chip shops in town, and in the almost 1/2 an hour I was there, no one Else entered or left the shop unless they...

Made a large order yesterday for dinner and it was disappointing - whilst the fish was very sweet and tasty, the chips were awful - oily/greasy, floppy and undercooked (and very lean in serving size) and then it took a long time to be able to call through to tell them they forgot part of our order, then we had to wait to speak to the manager, who then looked up our order to confirm we were being truthful, then we had to leave our guests and drive back to the shop to collect the forgotten pieces. Not great.

UPDATE

Got fish and chips again tonight for my family and had to update to say that the chips were AMAZING. Crunchy and golden...
