Destino — Restaurant in Gold Coast City

Genuinely, if I could give half a star, I would rate “destino” 1/2 a star- purely for the esthetics of the place- nothing more and nothing less. The treatment from a certain staff member, assumably the owner was appalling to say the least, this evening. As we arrived to greet our friend for her birthday booking at “destino” we were hesitantly greeted with and told by the man in the blue shirt that we could enter and maybe talk to our friend, left complexed I went on to say “ well we have a booking” he said nothing more, our friend decided to leave and book elsewhere, rightly so for such poor service they previously experienced with this man earlier on. For someone working in customer service, service to a customer is not this mans gifting. I would encourage this “destino” cocktail bar to overhaul their staff members and encourage some customer service 101 basic training to ensure no other patron is left with such a bitter experience and taste in their mouth. Destino has stolen our hearts with its incredible cocktails and luxurious bar setup. From the moment we stepped inside, we were transported to a different world, reminiscent of an exotic holiday destination. The bar exudes opulence, creating an atmosphere that simply oozes relaxation and indulgence. The attentive staff consistently impressed us with their prompt service, ensuring our glasses were never empty and tables remained clear. The addition of live music, particularly when the DJ played the electric saxophone, added a dynamic and vibrant touch to the already captivating ambiance. Situated near the marina and surrounded by some of the finest restaurants in the area, Destino is the ideal spot for pre-dinner or post-dinner drinks. This is deserving of 0 stars. A booking for 13 on a Monday after 20 months in a pandemic should be met with open arms. Instead, having clearly forgotten our booking, we watched the manager proceed to rudely ask/impolitely direct other patrons to move to accommodate us (read: “if you don’t move, you will have to leave”) only to realise that her rude efforts got us a spot on the not-13-seat bar. 13 people in a fraught line? Not conducive to a great experience. Safe to assume we left within a minute, after being told “well it’s a seat isn’t it?” One would think that a $325 booking guarantee would be met with reciprocity, yet a further spending promise of potentially hundreds more appears to be invaluable.
