Home Cafe Currumbin — Restaurant in Gold Coast City

We were just charged a public holiday surcharge today Wednesday 13th August 2025 at Home Cafe in Currumbin. We ordered 2 coffees ( 1 large latte and 1 small almond latte ) came to total of AUD13.95. My bf went to the counter and kindly asked the lady at the register about the pricing. She said the reason for the price increase was due to surcharge they added because of Brisbane EKKA. Feeling confused, we asked 2 nearby cafes if we are included in Brisbane Ekka holiday, they both said, no it’s not holiday in the Gold Coast as we have our own GC show happening end of this month. First time here visiting such a cute cafe with friendly and helpful staff. Orders for takeaway came out quick and we got to sit in their aesthetic outdoor area. The plants were being watered while we were there and regulars were treated like family. Ham and cheese croissant was cooked perfectly, the smoothie was fresh (next time I’ll ask for it sweeter, but that’s a personal preference), the coffee was a triple shot yet so incredibly smooth. One of my favourite spots in Currumbin! I love starting my day here with a morning coffee – such a beautiful spot! The staff are lovely and welcoming.

Over the weekend, I ordered their muffin special but unfortunately it had sold out. The staff kindly offered me any sweets they had to offer. I offered to pay the difference, but was given free of charge, which was really nice!
