Jin Mar Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Gold Coast City

This restaurant has changed hands 2 or 3 times in the last couple of years...sadly each new owner has allowed the quality of the food to slip to a point where the flavors are non existent and the chefs skills are second rate. This is possibly the worst Chinese food that I have ever tasted! We ordered King Prawns with vegetables...the prawns were tasteless & the lack of sauce did not help...very bland. Also ordered Combination Steamed Duck...the duck was a rubbery offering that only succeeded in giving your jaw a good “work out” but failed to impress...the flavour again, non-existent. As for the Special Fried Rice...there was nothing “special” about it, except that it was over cooked, and tasted “sour”, plus lacked many ingredients normally found in & expected to be present in a “Special” fried rice offering. Love the place, we have been there various times during the day with the kids and always been welcomed. As another reviewer has put it, don't be put off by the appearance, their tucker is great. Their service is very welcoming. They can't do enough for you, and we love it when the chef comes out and says Gidday. Good value for your buck. Thank you will see you again soon.

Recently changed hands - front house lady is lovely and took us in as family straight away, the food is still great and we hit the place once a week because of both. They've done a good job with the interior also. Fresh tucker, yummy dim...

Mongolian lamb was rubber and just tasted like sugar sauce. Vegetable chow mein was just vegetable stock flavoured and very crunchy undercooked veggies. Honey chicken was full of batter and soggy even though the honey sauce was seperately packaged. Probably the worst chinese I've ever had in my life. Everything was disgusting. I've never left a review for anywhere before but this was bad enough to motivate...
