Jungle King Street Thai & Bowls — Restaurant in Gold Coast City

Ordered two bowls from lunch menu - seemed promising, photos look absolutely gorgeous and price seemed alright. The food arrived - all good, took photos as it really brought out the ‘wow’ due to presentation. Though everything went downhill after the first bite. Menu has 0 indications for how spicy the meal is, so we didn’t even consider or thought it would burn our mouths and throats! Absolute nightmare! After taking it back to the counter and asking to either swap for something else or be refunded - got a ‘no’. Apparently there is chilli lime sauce mentioned among the 100 ingredients on the menu. I wouldn’t take a no though. You can clearly see we didn’t eat it, as it’s inedible unless you wanna burn your mouth for the day. Next thing I know - the cook/chef comes out telling me in a raised voice to ‘read the menu’. After asking for a manager he presented himself as the owner! What a way to treat your customer hey! I made my point that all menus have indication of spice level if it’s relevant, but he would just shout at us telling us we couldn’t read and he won’t give the money back! I told him I’ll leave a review and ensure other people know who this business is run by, so they can avoid it. He only then gave the money back and told us ‘if you don’t like it here - go eat somewhere else’ - so we did! The place next door is great! Hope this one goes down for good in the near future though! Treatment towards a customer was appalling and I believe half the shopping centre could hear him...

I don’t write reviews don’t have time but…

Just had our first meal here and I have to say this was the best Dishes of Thai I have had on the Gold Coast.

To be completely fair, we were the first in early on a Saturday afternoon but old Mumma serving before the staff Came back from the afternoon break Was heartwarming and lovely

We order the Two entrees a pork belly dish Yello chicken curry and the sashimi and it was absolutely amazing juicy pieces. Fresh crispy grains in the pork belly dish and the sashimi mixed with their own special sauce and coriander, handsdown full of flavour and delicious.

The presentation unbelievable. Check out the video and the photos that I have attached.

Like I said, we Don’t write reviews, but I will gladly take time out of our day to say thank you to Jungle for making our afternoon. We will be back many times more!!!

I'll start by saying that we seemed to get there during their peak trading hours on a Sunday. Restaurant Setting/Ambiance: Would recommend asking to be seated inside as the interior of the restaurant was beautiful. We were seated outside with a bench seat which was too low to the table to sit comfortably and eat. Would recommend moving to another table if one is available to be more comfortable while eating. Food: We had curry puffs, yellow curry, massaman beef and salt and pepper squid. All of which were delicious! The curry puffs were wonderful with incredibly crispy pastry. The flavours of the curries were incredible too and good sizes. The beef in the massaman was a little unevenly cooked but still tasted great throughout. It was still great at its toughest points and next level in the best of parts. Service: Perhaps the only real let down for us. Again, the staff were lovely and it was busy however, the timing between bringing out subsequent dishes was quite long. The other members had practically finished their meals before I had received mine.

Overall it was a nice experience and I would recommend it. From other reviews and photos I would love to come back to try...
