McDonald's Mermaid Waters — Restaurant in Gold Coast City

I usually don't post reviews in general, as most places don't cause enough grief for me to be bothered. But this maccas is THE worst McDonalds I've ever been to, and in general, the worst fast food takeaway place I know of. I live 5min away and come here often for a midnight 'maccas run' 2-3 times a week.

The staff are all either extremely miserable looking or standing around doing nothing, talking to each other, and sitting on their phones. I've actively seen staff being unhygienic by touching either their hair/face or bins/dirty surfaces and immediately handling food directly after.. hence I tend to avoid ordering food here now and go for drinks only.

Every. Single. Time... I order here, if I go and order in store, I have to wait for a stupid amount of time for what's usually a simple order. I'll stand there and watch 8-10 staff standing around doing nothing and taking 10+ minutes to put together a simple frozen coke drink or a singular cheeseburger. I've waited for a singular order of fries for 15 minutes before.

My tipping point to putting a review on here was ordering a basic cheeseburger meal (cheeseburger, fries, and a bottle of water) a few nights ago. I waited OVER 20 minutes, getting increasingly annoyed standing in the restaurant, watching the staff standing around talking to each other or wandering around staring into empty space doing FAFF ALL. Actually unbelievable.

If you must order here, you go through the drive thru, as they only bother putting together the drive-thru orders in a sane amount of time.

I'm not even gonna mention the quality of food, plenty of reviews here pointing it out with photos. The place (floors, tables, etc) is absolutely filthy, too.

Another bad review for this Maccas. We got kicked out for having our dog, tied up outside with us, while we were eating. Our dog had his leash on, portable water bowl and was sitting silently. This has never happened before to us, anywhere, while dining outside even at more higher end establishments.The manager just kept saying "I am the manager" and "This is a restaurant" repeatedly. We were told to move away - halfway through our meal. Literally with a half eaten Big Mac in my mouth, and all of our just opened food and drinks on the table. Unfortunate, as there was actually a law passed in Oct 2012 whereby a dog is allowed at restaurants that have an outside dining area. Food Safety Australia. There was no sign saying otherwise in their establishment either, if they wish to interpret that law differently. Q Centre is noted as being a pet friendly shopping centre, with water bowls set up around the shopping centre for dogs, and their annual Face of Q dog competition. There was also nobody else sitting outside except for us. Also unfortunate that there were another two ladies with a small dog sitting down across from us for 20 mins, that left just before our food arrived. The manager claimed that he did not see them. We have been here before and have had zero problems with the other staff or management, except for this manager working afternoon Mon 2nd May. He could have handled this much better, and mentioned his rule for us for next time. We were neatly dressed with a very well groomed and trained border collie. We even picked up all the wrappers and trash on the floor around us when we sat down. He really didn't have to be so rude about it. Needless to say we won't be going back. Side note, for what it's worth...fries...

Have tried Mermaid Waters location multiple times with different staff hoping for a better experience since it is the closest one to home however each time it is not possible pleasant at all. I mean I don’t expect top notch but… My coffee I always ask for 3 shots and get one or two (yes, I can tell by looking at it and the taste), I ask if there is the amount of shots I requested and they always say yes (mm hmm). Have had the chicken Caesar wrap and asked for a dash of dressing as I don’t want it drowned in it, so they put one blob in one end of the wrap making it even more unbearable than normal. I try the cheeseburger, bacon muffin and both were just thrown in the box and not actually put together. That’s just the food! The service is atrocious, always greet you with a voice that says they rather not be there and ‘what do you want!?’ Uhm how about a nice welcome like all other franchises… Never tell you how much it comes to and make you feel like it’s a burden when you do ask. They will try ignore you for a few minutes when going to order, paying and collecting food. You want napkins? Haha, think again, they get grumpy that one of the basic things to go in the bags is not in there making you have to ask for it.

There is actually a staff member who was nice and should be transferred to a more friendly and nurturing franchise as he appeared quite nervous maybe because of the other staff members not training him leaving him to cop abuse, maybe? He was of school age I believe, wish I got his name as he has been the only decent person there.

Must say, am not going to try again and hope for a half decent experience because the straw has...
