I don’t usually leave bad service reviews, only good ones, but I was up for Mothers Day weekend with family- it’s our first Mother’s Day without our Mum as she passed away recently. So this interaction with a manager really upset me on what was already a difficult weekend.
My family and I ordered food and some drinks.
I ordered the pork belly bao buns and when they came, the “pork belly” was 2 pieces of pure fat. There was a TEENY strip of meat on one; the rest was ALL fat. (I want to preface by saying pork belly is one of my favourite foods- so I am aware it’s a fatty cut of meat. But it’s not supposed to be entirely fat. There IS meat there…)
I hate sending food back but I simply couldn’t eat it, and it cost $18, so I took my dish back to the counter- very anxious and apologetic (I promise, I am not a Karen and I genuinely feel bad)- and very apologetically explained to a man who appeared to be the manager (white shirt, ear piece) that I didn’t actually get any meat on my dish.
This man didn’t say a single word, but gave me a nasty look, and took the plate off me and put it aside and said something into his earpiece. One of the waitresses walked by as he spoke, looked down at my dish, then looked up at me with a dirty look on her face also.
Then this manager turned to me and said in the most condescending tone “you know it’s pork belly right? That means fat?” I responded “yes I know, but it’s not supposed to be only fat ?”
He interrupted me to say “where are you sitting”, I pointed out our table then went and sat back down.
He brought a new dish out- which was great by the way, the sauce was a bit salty but other than that- delicious food and the pork belly was really well cooked)- but the manager put the plate down in front of me, I turned to say “thank you so much” and was greeted with nothing but another dirty look and not a single word.
The rest of the families food was delicious and everyone enjoyed it immensely. The live music was great, drink prices were reasonable and the bar staff were really friendly and kind.
But the experience with that manager was appalling and I am still really upset by the whole interaction.
Whoever that man was working on food service on Friday 10th May- I understand some customers can be challenging to deal with, but I was not one of them. I was nothing but polite and apologetic toward you, I’m quite sure that the replacement food didn't come out of your personal wages, and I hope you find a job that you actually...
Read moreWe recently had the pleasure of dining at Miami Tavern, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. This establishment truly stands out as a premier spot for dining alone or in a group.
The menu caught my attention, it was because of their fantastic selection of options. It offers a well curated menu that caters to a variety of tastes and dietary preferences. The variety ensures that there's something for everyone, making it a perfect spot for groups with diverse palates.
The food itself was nothing short of sensational. Each dish was bursting with flavour, showcasing the kitchen's commitment to quality and taste. The portions were generous, leaving us feeling satisfied. The presentation was also visually appealing, beautifully plated and pretty to look at, which added an extra layer of enjoyment to the dining experience.
The ambiance of Miami Tavern is truly inviting. The interior boasts a warm, ambient atmosphere that makes you feel relaxed and comfortable from the moment you step inside. The decor is thoughtfully designed, creating a cozy yet lively environment. I found myself constantly looking around, captivated by the numerous interesting details and decor elements within the tavern. Especially the bar itself. It’s a place that encourages you to take your time, soak in your surroundings, and truly enjoy the experience.
Equally impressive was the level of service. The staff were sensational, friendly, attentive, and genuinely eager to ensure that every aspect of our visit was perfect. They were knowledgeable about the menu, accommodating to our requests, and went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed. It’s rare to encounter such a combination of professionalism and warmth, which definitely enhanced our overall experience.
It's a fantastic destination for anyone looking for a great meal in a charming setting. The combination of a diverse menu, delicious food, beautiful decor, ambient atmosphere, and sensational service makes it a standout choice. Whether you're visiting for a casual night out or a special occasion, this tavern promises a memorable experience that will keep you...
Read moreNicely renovated. Looks more sophisticated. Cannot question the views of the beach, from upper balcony. This was our first experience (since Reno’s) in dining. However our experience was less than desired. First encounter with ? Male manager for shift (greeter). Very dismissive & not able to personally face us whilst talking, spoke to us as though we should know “food was served” all day! We’re from out of town. So when we asked where should we order, this same male person abruptly responded “well do you have a table number?” How, as new/first customers, should we know that we need to be seated or choose a table first before ordering? Some places we visit give us a number and then we choose our table. My suggestion is this:- this male needs to return to customer service school & relearn appropriate greetings of customers. Furthermore on greeting explain the process to people……. “Choose your table, take note of table number, come and order food here & then drinks at the bar”. Simple customer service explanations. However our story doesn’t end there. Bar lady, so not friendly! We were the only customers there ( at that time) so she wasnt busy! So striking up a conversation with her was similar to “pulling hens teeth”. She clearly didn’t want to engage, no friendliness, so cold & clinical. By this stage my vibe about this place is diminishing quickly. Delivered our food, by waitress - just dumped on the table without a word from the waitress about who has what dish or anything? I could do this no problem. It was an appalling experience from the staff overall. Not a place I will...
