Sandfire
I came there last Friday for lunch with a friend, we both had the fish Florentine and truffle fries.
If you have a "main dish", it should come out on a main size plate, it came out on an entree sized plate. A main usually has protein and another element to make it a main size dish. The sauce is not that element. This dish needed something else...like "mashed" sweet potato, potato, celeriac, carrot whatever so it's not just fish on a plate. The fish was firm, like it was overcooked...or frozen then unfrozen quickly, then cooked.
The 'julienned' chips just didn't taste great either. As my friend said, there was just not enough potato in the chip. A larger size chip would've been better. Shoestring chips might look posh, but they're not.
When are you going to get a chef who cares about vegetarian food. Since the new chef arrived the quality of the food has gone down. The vegetarian food you do have on the menu is tiresome. Vegetarian/vegan food can be spectacular. Go and buy a few vegetarian/vegan cookbooks for the chef, might give him some ideas.
I had "eggplant parmigiana" in Sydney at a pub, and it was so delicious. I preferred it to a chicken one. That was a couple of years ago now. Come on think outside of the box...of "meat".
The place was pretty much empty. It felt like you're trying to make a venue something special when it just doesn't need to be that way.
The best thing about Australia is you can usually walk in somewhere on the beach and wear whatever you have on, and not be judged. I noticed today on your website you have a dress code. Most people want to look nice going out for lunch anyway, but you don't have to have restrictions.
I hope whenever the new wing is completed it stays laid back and easy.
Staff, the one guy running the place was exceptional. As he was taking orders at a table, I was waiting several minutes, maybe five for him to turn around for me to pay and leave. Then a woman arrived who...
Read moreBeautiful views and very well decorated. The service was horrendous both times I went here. The first time we ended up only ordering cocktails (which were small, but delicious) and then left because it was taking so long for the server to come back for our food order. The second time, we had a 7:30p reservation and got there at 7:20, were told our table wasn’t ready even though there were heaps of open tables but it was ok because there is a cute lounge area and we were told we could sit there and order a cocktail from the bar. Went to the bar and they wouldn’t serve us, said we needed to have a server. We sat back down and watched a bunch of confusion as the server, hostess, and bartender argued over whether or not we could order from the bar. We were finally sat at a table around 7:45 with the drinks that we ended up ordering from a server. Once at our table, we were not served until 8:30 and that was only after trying to passively get someone’s attention and eventually raising our hand to ask for service. We then got someone else’s food along with our entrees which was left at our table for a few minutes and then a server came over to explain it was for someone else and to our horror they actually took the fish dish to the other table. Luckily we hadn’t touched it.. We eventually got our own food which was OK. Portions could definitely be larger. Overall, very disappointed to see that this lovely location is obviously lacking good management and...
Read moreThis venue is a restaurant & cocktail bar, however it is not suitable for a sit-down meal to socialize in groups - the venue is extremely loud. The venue staff are extremely unorganised, forgetful, & do not communicate. Our whole evening was a mess, problem after problem after problem... despite booking a reservation, there weren't enough seats when we arrived, table service was very slow, they were mixing up wines, we had to prompt the staff for the complimentary table olives (which they argued with us about), there was a mix up with the food selection/menu (the staff claimed we were given the wrong menus, that the menus on the table were just for show, & that we didn't have a choice), each time we were served, we were told something different or they had no idea, they then forgot a meal then blamed us for the delay, the one non-alcoholic drink we requested they didn't have, they completely forgot one of the desserts at the end even though we made it clear that due to dietary requirements one person couldn't eat the tiramisu, & by that time we just gave up... there are too many mistakes to list, I...
