Choosing to go to Ally Chow for both my partners and our good friends birthday was an extremely upsetting and terrible decision that resulted in utter disappointment and demoralisation of Ally Chow reputation. I am exceedingly appreciative of hospitality staff in these current times and only ever wish to be as respectful as possible. We knew their was going to be at least 8 of us in which would all be participating in the banquet, so we choose a quieter period (4 o’clock) to book so staff wouldn’t feel so overwhelmed by the affairs. We sat down and asked if we could do the Margarita banquet being of course happy to pay extra and she told us we couldn’t because it was only for lunches, yet online I had booked under the last lunch sitting which was 4pm specifically for the Margarita banquet. Although we were all fairly disappointed about this, we were thrilled to see friends we don’t usually have the opportunity to see and carried on just doing the mainstream banquet. The lady’s demeanour was extremely condescending and patronising, rolling her eyes at us every time we requested to order a drink to the point I felt uncomfortable asking her for my second glass of wine, my friend at the table put an ice cube in her glass of pino gris to chill her wine and was interrogated by the lady asking how her glass was so full ( assuming she thought she was doubling up on wines). One of the birthday gentlemen ordered a beer and when she brought a jug of caprioska to the table he poured some with the extra glass to try and she audaciously came over and told him he wasn’t allowed to have two drinks and snatched one of his drinks from in front of him. It became hard to enjoy our birthday celebrations as she seemed extremely annoyed at us, making us feel very uncomfortable. When leaving we all payed separately and when finishing payment she accused us of still having one banquet unpaid for in which everyone double checked and everyone had paid, the lady got extremely defensive about the situation and wouldn’t let us leave resulting in my sister having to pay for 2 banquets! We had Valentine’s Day booked at this venue but due to this extreme disappointment and unfairness we will not be returning and we will also advise our family and friends this is not a welcoming restaurant for special events or any events at all, Ally Chow has a great layout and invigorating atmosphere and so much potential but Saturday really left a bad taste in our mouth, no...

We used to love Ally Chow and would go every year, so when we had guests staying this Christmas holidays, we booked to try Monsieur Chow. We booked a table weeks in advance (leaving credit card details) and received email confirmation. Arrived last night at the restaurant to find it shut. We called them and they explained that they had apparently tried to call us the day before to cancel because they did not have enough bookings and because the staff were tired. If they did call, they did not leave a message. They did not send an email. They did not send a text message. They did not call again. They let us find out by having us turn up to the restaurant with doors locked (and no sign saying they were closed for the night). They were lucky that it was my kind wife who called them.
To make matters worse, every other restaurant in the precinct was fully booked. We saw two other groups arrive at their door looking confused (don’t know if they had bookings). We walked back home and served our guests christmas ham on toast (the ham was 5 stars).
The lack of communication, responsibility, and customer care from this new venture is unforgivable. The food would have to be good for you to take the risk. They clearly don't value their customers. We won’t be taking them up on their offer generous offer of a free welcome drink at our...
Read moreFood is delicious, it is in a higher price bracket but great none the less. Customer service was amazing and the ladies were so helpful but the food was incredibly slow. After being here for an hour we had only received our mains which arrived 30-40mins into our reservation. We eat out quite regularly and have never had to wait this long, we are generally finished and paying after an hour. By the time we received our mains almost 1.5hrs after ordering we weren’t in a good mood after waiting and had to go to our next date activity. We would have loved to stay for dessert but couldn’t. The waitress apologised and said they were busy, which we understand however we put our order in when there was only maybe 4 couples in the restaurant.
We would also like to request that there is a vegetarian Main on the menu as there currently isn’t one. My partner just ate a starter plate and ate a side dish for his ‘main’ so the poor guy was starving even after spending $160 on food. The Vegan Chiang Mai Curry listed on their website isn’t on the menu in the restaurant. We asked the waitress for help with what to order as there were minimal options and she didn’t suggest this either.
We will definitely be back but maybe with a group of friends for drinks so we don’t notice how long the...
