First and last time we will eat here. Visited here last night (Saturday) with our party of 11 including 2 children and arrived at 7pm as per our booking. Our order was taken about 15 minutes later and everything went downhill from there. The young girl that served us was pleasant. Our breads arrived in a fairly timely manner (thank goodness or we would have starved). It was not until 9pm and me having to go and ask where our food was that we received our mains about 10 minutes later. The table behind us left after complaining about having to wait 2 hours for their food. When our food did finally arrive it was at best average. My pizza (small and the size of a side plate with 4 slices was $20). It had a diced up prawn, and it would not have been more than 1, a smear of avocado and was tasteless and very bland. The pasta boscaiola was described as ok. Three had the Pollo chicken and said it was ok. One of our party asked for his dish without onion and had to wait another 10 minutes after we were all served as they had put onion on his dish and had to start again. That aside the thing that bothered me the most was that at no stage did any staff come to explain or apologise for the delay, offer us any bread while we waited, nothing. One of the waitresses was visibly fed up and had a bad attitude, not knowing what dish she had and getting frustrated. Not a very pleasant experience at all and for the money not worth it. Maybe a bad night but that's 11 people that...
Read moreWe took Italian friends here as it had been recommended to us by our friends in the area but we haven't had the chance to try it yet.
Booking a table is a good idea, especially if you want to dine later in the evening or on the weekend although they do their best to accommodate walk ins. One item to note is the hostess was flustered when we asked for a highchair to be added to our table so be sure to specify when booking.
We ordered a pizza, some pasta dishes and a risotto, all of which were prepared very well and were a good portion. The large pizza was shared and there was still spare to take home.
Although the restaurant is BYO wine with a corkage fee they are also licensed. We bought a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon that was well paired with the meal. It would have been impossible to bring or own wine of equal quality for a better price. Our only complaint was on this particular night the wine was a little warm, and although ice was provided, we are not in the habit of putting ice in our wine.
The waiter was very friendly and the rest of the staff were helpful as well. The atmosphere is relaxed and fun, casual with friends and families enjoying meals together while old time tunes croon in the background. Much of the seating is outdoors, so keep the weather in mind when you are booking.
The bill was reasonable for four people. I have certainly paid much more for much worse food. We will definitely return and look forward to trying more...
Read moreLook, I don't usually write reviews but last night we had the most stingiest/underwhelming pizza I've ever had. For $23 I purchased a Meat 'Lovers' Pizza that contained a single piece of peperoni on each slice and the smallest shred of shredded bacon ( those tiny little pre cut bacon pieces) and some of the pieces didn't have meat on it just a drizzle of sauce which was also bearish. The flavour was as boring as how the pizza creators must've felt making the stingy Pizza. I did not feel the love with my Meat lovers. This was a $5 dollar Pizza at best. On the other hand and I'm not exaggerating but my parents felt sick after their pizza which was a Margherita. Had we actually checked what was on the Pizza before it was handed over we would've said no thanks. Also the Margherita had no cheese !! What is a Margherita with no cheese ? It's just a piece of bread. If anyone is reading this, please there are other options out there for Pizza. Those 5$ dominoes Pizza pack more of a punch than Angelo's. I probably used more energy eating the pizza than what the Pizza returned. I don't know why we even chose this place it is most definitely a one off thing. I wish I had taken a photo of my Pizza. It didn't taste bad ( just absolutely bland) it just was not worth $23 no way. Please Angelo's don't cut back on things like meat topping and cheese, that will hurt your customer base in...
