Best part about our stay was that the greeter man was lovely. Completely incorrect information but lovely all the same. We stayed here for the slides only as we were going to stay at tweed and/or yamba. As a friend said Gold Coast big 4 was a little bit of a questionable park for amenities, safety and service but good location. They were right.

No common sense, patronizing uneducated management, raw and off smelling chicken which made my 9 month and I feel sick, the laundry dryer was expensive, didn’t work and then made me wait in the sun with my babies for someone to come and assist, no bin areas except when I complained and they moved a skip bin here and there, the “fishing river” looked like it housed 4 eye fish, the construction was loud and smelled. But the best part was - do not be fooled by the slides!! There is 2 small slides for kids under 120cm, my almost 6 year old was absolutely devastated as the staff and management stated even though only 3.8cm difference she was not allowed on any other slide. For the small slides you need to be 90cm that’s a 30cm difference so 2 year olds could go down the small slides and almost 6 year olds couldn’t do anything else.

I argued there should be 10% lead way for confident swimming children and even offered to sign a waiver as the slides were the only reason we stayed. The lady in the swimming area who was apparently a life guard (not dressed in swimwear) policed the slides, measuring all The children on the pole, yelling at the small kids to only go down the tiny slide on their bottoms (the sign didn’t say half the things she was demanding of the kids). She questioned almost every family in the hour and 20 mins I was there about their wristbands - I.e the whole family Had wristbands and one of the kids obviously lost it and she questioned them? She was reminded this was supposed to be a chilled fun family Holiday vibe and her response was none. I have over 30 videos of her policing the kids rather than actually taking care of their safety.

I asked to Speak To management - They passed Me around from person to person and made me wait over an hour and a half at the pool area with my 9 month old and crying almost 6 year old for a response in which the pardoning manager named Georgie after I called again (?) stated pretty much sorry about all your concerns but happily get over it. I have never been more disappointed in managements lack of common sense and attitude. When you spend as much money as we do for holidays but also for our business at resorts, caravan parks and namely big 4’s it’s so disappointing to see how the vibe and policies at this big 4 really don’t match the fun, happy, real laid back Aussie vibes us family caravaners have come to love during all of our travels . The other families will also be posting in line with similar qualms to that I have shared. As a final note and probably the worst point I asked how they would deal with this issue with an adult of short stature, where was the common sense? She said all other places, water parks, parks and theme parks might be different but this was their rule here, and then also accused us of being racist.(!?!)

Interactions like this make it so disappointing to move past and although I don’t ever leave reviews this had to be said and others had to be warned as I don’t want them to have to deal with extremely disappointed...

Please put as much care into your hygiene as you do your marketing.

When searching for family-friendly accomodation on the Gold Coast, I came across the Big 4.

There was a plethora of 5-star Google reviews, all from those raving about the facility and their excellent experience.

Upon arrival to our room, we were greeted with air filled mattresses that I assume were overstock at the local penitentiary. I appreciate the maintenance of these mattresses compared to a standard mattress would be minimal. However, given the price of the accommodation, I cannot accept this reasoning.

One hour into our stay, walking through our “terrace” we came to observe blackening to the soles of our feet, calling to question to extent of cleaning that took place between clientele.

To the credit of the venue, when we flagged it with them someone was promptly sent to mop the floor. Sadly, though, the attendee was on-site for less than 10 minutes (including filling the mop bucket) and made no discernible impact on the cleanliness of the floors following their departure.

Leaving me to wonder, “how did this place get so many positive reviews”.

Early the next morning, I received a marketing message asking me to review Big 4 Gold Coast for my chance to win a $50 voucher…

It all started making sense.

Having now stayed here for five (regrettable) nights, I am yet to experience anything close to reminiscent of the picture painted by the reviews online.

We were advised that there would be housekeeping once throughout our stay, which occurred yesterday.

What did that entail? New towels and one new bed sheet. Deplorable.

Prior to our arrival, we notified staff that we had two small children. Whether due to a lack of care, lack of effort or pure negligence, we were placed near the waterpark where we were bathed in the screams of children daily during lunchtime hours (when most small children sleep).

To add insult to injury, we were serenaded by midday base-filled music on the weekend to really liven up nap-time. I almost broke out the glow sticks and neon-tights so my two year old can experience her first mid day rave.

Tongue-in-cheek comments aside, this stay has been underwhelming, disappointing and frustrating.

I do not hold out hope that my review will have much of an impact on upper management. However, my hope is that some will see my review (especially those with young children) and opt to do what I wish I had done and booked another accommodation.

I gave two stars as it is well-positioned to the theme parks and other amenities seem well maintained. It is very sad that the experience did not live up to our expectations; every part of me was wishing for a positive turn in...

Review An Unforgettable Cabin Stay at BIG4 Gold Coast

I recently had the pleasure of staying at BIG4 Gold Coast, and it was an experience that exceeded all expectations. We selected this resort because it was dog-friendly, and we were delighted to find that it not only welcomed our furry friend but also featured enclosed dog areas where our dog could run and play safely.

The cabin we stayed in was cozy, clean, and perfectly appointed for a family getaway. It was the ideal base for our adventures, offering a blend of comfort and convenience that made us feel right at home, even though the real adventure was outside!

Highlights of Our Stay:

Amazing Pool The resort's pool was nothing short of spectacular. Whether we were enjoying a leisurely swim or splashing around with the kids, it provided endless fun and relaxation. The pool area was well-maintained, with plenty of lounge chairs and umbrellas for shade.

Kids Play Equipment Our children had an absolute blast with the variety of play equipment available. The resort had thought of everything to keep the little ones entertained, from swings and slides to climbing frames and imaginative play structures. It was a joy to see our kids so engaged and happy.

Eateries The on-site eateries were a delightful surprise. Offering a range of delicious options, we enjoyed every meal without having to leave the resort. From casual snacks to more substantial meals, the food was always fresh, flavorful, and reasonably priced.

Family Fun Vibe The overall atmosphere of the resort was one of family fun and relaxation. Every aspect of the resort was designed with families in mind, creating a welcoming and joyous environment that we thoroughly enjoyed. The staff were always friendly and helpful, adding to the positive experience.

Dog-Friendly Amenities The fact that the resort was dog-friendly was a significant factor in our choice, and we were not disappointed. The enclosed dog areas were a fantastic feature, allowing our dog to play and explore off-leash. It was evident that the resort understood the needs of pet owners, making our stay even more enjoyable.

Exceptional Customer Service by Tara While the resort was already impressive, the exceptional customer service provided by Tara was the cherry on top of an already sweet pie. Tara went above and beyond time and time again to ensure our stay was perfect. Her warm and accommodating nature made us feel truly valued and appreciated as guests. Whether it was providing local recommendations, assisting with special requests, or just checking in to see how we were doing, Tara's dedication to outstanding service significantly enhanced our...

The cabin "apartment" we had was incredible so sleek and clean and modern the main room bed was super comfy the kids bunks not as comfy but did the trick enough space to move in the room with bunks and lounge & dining felt cosy with enough space. The lounge and dining were good but the leather lounge was not so comfy but we did our best, the bathroom & and the kitchen were both great. The park its self felt strange it wasn't a typical big 4 where you felt like it was a open camp site the camp sites where very small and tight so if anyone is arriving or departing you cant get past. The plots were really small, and there were so many other actual residents living at the cabins that you felt like you lived next to a home, not someone on holiday. The shape of the park has a very strange, shaped layout that is easy to get lost. Big slides by kids' feedback was too slow, not enough water to push you down. The big pool was gorgeous, but it was freezing, not 28 degrees like it read on the website, and then the spa was too hot to stay in for long, so it was either freezing or your burning. The small warm pool was the only option my kids 11 & 14 could mostly handle. Cafe was average, not a proper cafe or restaurant, more canteen style. And a big adventure park with flying fox was a nice nature filled spot. So some good and some not great. Overall, we had a nice time but might not be the right big 4 for us. The apartment was more comfortable than most hotels, but the rest was a bit less than exciting.

This is the worst camping site we had. If there is the negative points, I will give -10. The facility looks good. However, the service is too bad. We booked River side camping site. The staff allocated us near their construction site and entrance which is very noisy since the morning. Construction trucks always on the way. And it is not the river side camping area. It near the cabins which people always drinking and chatting loudly in their balcony during the night time. The whole camping site is near the high way which is very noisy. We couldn’t change the site because it kept raining since we arrived. There are other better camping sites near the river available but not giving us! The staff had no idea how to do the right things. The main kitchen is always full of people. And the small kitchen two BBQs are not working. The fish is dying and nobody cares. The welcome envelope only has water park wristbands. Their staff didn’t tell us the free WIFI and there is no after hours officer phone number we can find. The refund policy looks funny: if you feel not satisfied within one hour, you can get your money back. It is ridiculous for customers to find all the bad things in one hour! Never come again and won’t recommend to anyone!

Absolutely amazing weekend away at the Big 4 Gold Coast! ★★★★★ The presentation of the park is immaculate, with pristine grounds and beautifully maintained facilities. We were particularly impressed with the presentation of our site, which made a huge difference in our overall comfort. One of the highlights for us was the amazing pool area and the variety of fun pools available. As parents, we were thrilled with the fake grass around the park. It provided a safe and clean surface for our baby to crawl around freely, and we didn't have to worry about dirt or discomfort. It was such a relief to see our little one exploring safely. The food and drink options were fantastic. We loved the convenience of the on-site café and the quality of the meals. Happy hour was a great touch, offering a relaxing way to unwind. Overall, our experience at Big 4 Gold Coast was exceptional. Every aspect of our stay was carefully considered and well-executed, making it a memorable family getaway. We highly recommend it to anyone looking for a perfect blend of relaxation, fun, and top-quality service. Thank you, Big 4 Gold Coast, for an unforgettable weekend!
