Terrible customer service. Shame for Burleigh. Update: Let me clarify in response to the owner's false statements & accusations. We have dined at Labart & found the service poor. After being seated, then being ignored for sometime, we kindly asked for the attention of the female wait staff to atleast order some drinks & were met with a curt response of 'you'll have to wait'. After waiting for sometime until the wait staff was ready (the place was half empty), we ordered drinks, then food. The food was served in very small portions & average at best for the very high prices charged. We paid our bill & left hungry, so stopped for takeaway on the way home. We decided not to leave a review & after sometime thought to give this restaurant another try, thinking perhaps it was an 'off" night for them & 2nd time round might be better. I tried calling over a couple days with no response, then tried calling during their opening hours thinking someone might pick up the phone as their website stated they were infact open. The voicemail only refers the caller to their website. The owner finally responded via email (no phone call) & made excuses for their lack of service due to closing for the weekend due to electrical issues (things happen), but never taking a thought to updating their website or voicemail advising customers of same (we're not mindreaders Karla). After seeing my 1 star review, the owner (Karla) emailed several times, taking offence to any suggestion to improve customer service, called me various names accusing me of 'angry' behaviour to which I apologised if she felt that way, as that was not the case & asked her to stop contacting me. The owner ignored my request, continued to contact me & threatened legal action if I did not remove my 1 star rating. Reviews are there for people to give a rating of their personal experience. A history of this owner's response to people giving a 1 star rating will tell the story. Thank you to the owner for prompting me to explain my 1 star review & for her false assumptions made in her response. No anger or abuse on my part, but I would never give Labart our business nor recommend this restaurant to anyone. Any savvy business owner would welcome constructive feedback, but apparently Labart are above that. The truth hurts. The owner is dishonest & obsessed with harrsssing me after I've asked her to stop. By the way people, the owner has since removed some of their ill mannered responses to poor reviews in an attempt to save herself, &/or discredit me. Either way, eh..Word of mouth is the biggest form of advertising....we'll leave it at that. Hi people, Labart owner is still harrassing me & has resorted to repeatedly CHANGING her response in an attempt to make it look as though she's not (big fail). In summary, this is a sounding board of people's experiences & she needs to accept it & move on with her life. My review is directed at readers...not poor old Labart who can't handle the truth of their actions. Perhaps they should focus their energy on improving their business. If you can't handle the heat, get out of the kitchen. Give it up, who threatens someone with legal action if they don't remove an...
Read moreI don't know what to say really, I hate giving bad reviews, but I just don't get it? Booked this place for my wife's birthday dinner on account of it receiving QLD's best restaurant award. Setting - ok, cocktail was terrible, maybe it was my fault for not picking up on the fact that very little of the bar is designated for cocktails, but a glass full of melted ice with some watered down whiskey ain't an old fashioned... service - maybe we had a bad night but our waitress confidently took our order without a pen or paper & subsequently our sides were left off our main courses (meaning we were both staring down at two plates of protein with nothing else on them), after waiting a minute or two watching our mains cool, I politely asked if our sides that we had ordered were on the way... She said 'oh yes, you did order those, let me just check'.... Then went to ring them up on the till & hand the docket to the busy kitchen... Sorry, but I'm not going to watch my meat get cold as I wait for some vegetables... I thought it rather funny.... Toilets are in a back alley like a good local old Thai restaurant, Dessert menu was uninspiring... It was just.... Ok. Surely not QLD's best restaurant? Paper table clothes? I'm not trying to be snotty, I'm super chill, but let's call a spade a spade. It's ok.... Gelato on James St was a nice dessert & good spot to catch other couple from the restaurant for a laugh. All in all, a good night out with...
Read moreDon't believe the hype people. We dined here last Saturday night and all four of us were left underwhelmed. The called us to confirm our 7.45 booking and said "don't come early" - all good. We arrived just before 8pm and have a feeling (unconfirmed) they had given our table away. The main man on the floor (blue shirt, hair pulled back in pony tail) completely ignored us and we stood in the doorway for a few minutes minutes. Finally a nice young lady helped us. They then pushed some other people out so we had a table. Set menu - no dramas - however of the 5 courses, we might have rated two - the calamari/leek and the steak. The rest were average. We've done plenty of set menus in different places and we found all serves were especially small. The young ladies that served our table were good and the matching wines were indeed well matched however all in all, we feel the menu was not value for money and not particularly interesting. Footnote: we checked with a few others who had been to Labart. Maitre'd is renowned for fawning over his favourites while ignoring those he doesn't feel warrants his attention. Used to also happen in the previous venue he worked, so don't take...
