We visited here on a voucher from one of the discount websites, which entitled us to one main meal and one drink each. The meals were good, no better or worse than you would expect at the price they charge, but the customer service and menu knowledge of the lady at the ordering point was abysmal. Have a look at their menu on zomato. The Corn Fritters clearly state that they come with bacon, not as an add on or an extra, but clearly stated as included. But no, the lady taking orders was adamant that we had to specify either bacon or smoked salmon. Even after pointing this out to her, she still insisted that we had to specify bacon. Not good menu knowledge, not a good start. The most expensive item on the menu (the one on zomato is an old menu, their prices have gone up slightly but the principal is the same) is $18.00. One of us wanted the Gourmet Breakfast Toastie ($13.90) with an egg (extra at $2.00, total $15.90). OK, it's an extra and not included in the voucher, fair enough, but we could have ordered one of the $18.00 meals and didn't, so even with an extra egg they were still $2.10 better off. Technically she was correct, but please, a bit of customer service would be good. They are selling discount vouchers to get customers in, and we were still saving them money, but no, grumpy lady taking orders couldn't see that. If she doesn't like dealing with the public then why is she working in customer service. Our friends had been to this Cafe before, and they assured us that this was an exception. Maybe, but it left me feeling quite...

It was a happy accident we ended up here -- we got sick of waiting for our order to be taken at Commune so decided to leave and try this cute looking cafe instead. So glad we did! We were immediately greeted by a whole team of friendly and upbeat staff who actually seemed to enjoy their jobs.

While we were disappointed that they'd run out of avocado (🥲) the owner was incredibly apologetic and it was clear they'd had a busy morning. We ended up going with the Brekkie Burger & the Street Big - delicious and huge portions. The food isn't trying to be pretentious - it's just a classic good Aussie feed.

Worst breakfast we ever had. 2 iced coffees took 25 minutes, where only 1 was made and the 2nd took another 5 minutes. Food took over 40 minutes to come and butter was in a little hospital portion in a packet, hash browns were clearly not made in house, acai bowl arrived melted and fruit was still frozen, so much for fresh produce. Waitresses wondered around like headless chooks taking order after order to the wrong tables and staff just had zero sense of urgency nor care. Portions were average, poached eggs were almost boiled (yolks didn't run at all). Just very disappointed unhappy visitors from Melbourne on our last day in the Sunshine coast....

Mat is the friendliest and most hospitable cafe owner I've ever met. This is my local because of the quality of coffee (best on the Coast), range of food, the relational warmth and they always remember your order. There's lots of different seating options for meetings, catchups or working by yourself. The council works have been going on for 2 years now out the front, disrupting his business every single day, but he as persisted with offering an enjoyable experience, regardless of the circumstance outside of his control. I love this cafe and I think you will too.
