Top Wok Chinese Restaurant — Restaurant in Gold Coast City

I must admit i was hesitant when I saw their note on their website claiming people are writing false reviews trying to deter customers away from their business. But I thought hey I haven't ordered from here and its a fairly new business only a year old so I'll try it out. I Have been looking for good quality tasty Chinese food for ages, but it seems the look will be continuing. The food from top wok is the worst I've ever eaten. The honey chicken didn't taste like honey at all, there was little to no chicken inside the batter...yes this is true, I opened 2 piece's and it was just thick batter. And any piece's that did contain chicken were so tiny that you could not taste it, next was the beef with ginger and shallot, beef tasted as if it was soaked in water, absolutely tasteless, with big piece's of ginger was the only taste you got. Egg fried rice was obviously cooked in a burnt wok, as it had a horrible burnt taste to it. Such a disappointment was hoping to support local community. But sorry I won't be ever ordering...

ABSOLUTELY DISCUSTING. I ordered my food and was somewhat enjoying it until I saw a dead blowfly with huge wings in my food- Covered in sauce and was clearly cooked in. I brought it too wok’s attention- was laughed at before they tried to tell me it wasn’t a fly or a bug when In plain sight had wings and was clearly a dead fly. So that was insult to injury - INCREDIBLY RUDE! Also they weren’t even sorry or have compensation. This place should be inspected by food health and safety. The shopkeeper had no humility and I wish I spent my money somewhere else And will not be visiting again. I posted the situation on social media and I will make sure that my family and friends do...

TLDR, food is good, service is as expected from an Asian store, atmosphere is also as expected.

Long version, usually go to a few doors down at hello sizzling after my workout nearby but as luck has it, it’s closed for maintenance. Gmaps says topwok just around the corner off I went. Ordered stir fry with beef fillet as it looks nice on the menu, and what shows up does live up to the picture. Taste is 8/10, I’m from Malaysia and I’d say it’s better than quite a few places back home. Bit bummed that there’s no like Chinese tea or the sorts, would’ve been perfect if there is.
