Dog and Parrot Tavern — Restaurant in Gold Coast City

I have eaten out at this establishment for the last 10 years and I have always enjoyed my experience here. Tonight I came in for dinner for the first time in several months and I have never been so disappointed and let down by any restaurant that I have been to all over the Coast. So much has changed since I last came here and it saddens me. The Dogs and Parrot’s new menu has never been so depressing to read. All the pasta and nearly all the burger options have been taken away. There are now only two or three vegetarian friendly options left on the menu. The menu consists of mostly steak dishes which I find basic and uncreative. I ordered the Southern Fried Chicken burger and expected it to just be a nice decent burger but I was met with disappointment... I’m not entirely sure how fresh the lettuce, tiny amount of carrot and caramelised onion, that was just raw onion, was. The chicken itself and burger buns were just fine, I do feel like the chicken could use more seasoning but other than that it’s fine. My grandmother had the Vegetarian Burrito Bowl and found it to be quite disgusting. She said the dish was not fresh and tasted like a frozen meal from Coles. I think that since the new Sports Bar that was added to the Dog and Parrot the owners/managers/supervisors have put less effort into the original establishment. I feel like the Chef is not passionate about his job and maybe just doesn’t have the passion for food and is just there because it’s a “job”. I can remember when the Dog and Parrot had absolutely amazing chef’s that made beautiful food... Unfortunately those days are sorely missed. As someone who has experience in hospitality I understand that there is a certain demographic in certain areas but at the end of the day, this is an established restaurant and should be serving nothing less than great, tasty food. For the prices that we are being charged... The food has to be better. To me this is an insult not to me but to the restaurant itself. It was my Gradndsons 21st on the 19th January 2020.He booked a table for 10 in person on the Saturday the 18th January for the 19th January at 6.30pm.We arrived just before 6.30.only to be told some else had used my Grandsons name and telephone number and had taken out table.how that could happen is beyond me?? After a few minutes we were directed the the larger eating area next to the poker machne room,only to have to dodge 6 children running up and down and playing leap frog between one ot he main entrences and the Poker machine entry door,very unsafe,not good Work Health and Safety practice,not to mention the Duty of Care for other patrons.Not one staff member corrected this dangerous behavior,the parents did nothing..We ordered our meals.The children continued the sceaming and running for 20 minutes.My daughter went to the bar and noticed an elderly lady with a walking stick walking towards where the children were running Riot,she turned around to a staff member and said can you see the old lady,he just happened to be the manager,he agreed it was not safe,he then asked the parents to correct the childrens behavior.I ordered a Roasted Mushroom Vege Burger $17.00 I might add, I have never eaten anything like it,I had to return it to the cashier,the manager asked me if I wanted another meal,I said no,he said ;do youwant your money back' I said yes thank you.He walked away saying nothing, I would have expected a sorry for your unfortunate experience...Nothing....I have been going to The Dog and Parrot for 14 years ,it has always been a good experience,it was so sad it had to happen on my Grandsons 21st little Celebration with close family.I am really concerned about keeping these entry walkways clear,in case of an emergancy,Please attend to this matter ,it is a Public...

Hubby and I went there Saturday 3rd September for lunch. We were so disappointed that I wrote to them via their website when we got home. It was so busy there, I didn't think anyone would really listen.... Haven't heard a word from them. You can see from the photo that the ribs weren't even the size of the blade on the knife. This is what I wrote,

"Afternoon, My husband and I were just there for lunch and we were bitterly disappointed with his meal. We sat at table 26 and he ordered the 1/2 ribs and I ordered the shank. My shank was lovely, but the ribs were so small and skinny, with not much meat, and only 4 ribs for $30.00. Totally not worth it. This is the third chance we have given you. As locals, we want to support our local pubs and restaurants. The first time I had 11 family members there for a get together and I ordered the Bangers and Mash, only to be the last meal out and it looked like it had been thrown on the plate. No mashed potatoes only a few chips and barely any gravy. I sent it back saying I ordered bangers and mash. It took ages for the young waiter to come back only to tell me that there was no mash, but, would I like a potato!!!!! Oh dear, so I got a potato and mashed it myself. My sister-in-law ordered the shank and again no mash. Then I came with a party of 6 for a girlie get together and one of my friends ordered the Chicken Schnitzel, only to have the crumb almost burnt and the chicken partly raw. This has been all in the last few weeks. I took a photo of my husbands meal today after he finished and seriously it wasn't even worth $15. I don't like to complain but you will lose other clients if you don't lift your game. I am hesitant to come back or recommend your establishment...
