Unfortunately our experience wasn’t great. Place is being renovated which isn’t and wasn’t a issue but on a positive note looks to be huge new asset to Bribie, my issues was the food. And the instant defence once I explained to the staff member Megan the cutlets were supose to be taken off, I had only enquired about them not ordered them. She was the friendly face we were greated with on arrival. When ordering I had a great laugh with the other staff member who was taking the orders.I had asked about 3 meals starting with, whether there was breadcrumb coating on the herb lamb cutlets, main point being I wanted something with no breadcrumbs. I chose a chicken salad in the end. Although I take responsibility for not “ seeing the tv screen that shows the order on the desk” I feel it should be bought to a customers attention to check and ensure the order on the screen was correct. Simple McDonalds restaurant do. Although I felt for the lady who took our order as she ended up having a sneezing fit during me placing the order, telling me the dust from outside affects her to sneeze. We had a good ole laugh during the ordering process, and I assume this is where it went wrong. I just tapped my card, when the order was placed. I couldn’t even be sure if I was told the price but on pick up of our meals we were faced with 3 meals. The first one we spoke about being the lamb cutlets I didn’t want due to being crumbed, hadn’t be removed from the order. Megan instantly jumped into defence mode stating the screen being at the ordering counter. I felt stupid, embarrassed and mentioned i was going to offer the meal for free to someone that wanted it, we were offered a take away box which at the time thought that’s a great solution we could have the left overs between the 2 of us tomorrow. My partners steak meal was great, my caeser salad was shocking. I litterally had the core of the lettuce hidden under the chicken and perfectly presented to look great but 3/4 of it was well past restaurant standards, most of the lettuce being yellow and parts of the lettuce being browns one of the big lettuce leaf started to go rotten, the left overs picture makes it look better than it was. The bacon had more hunks of fat than it did bacon. The mint gravy tasted burnt. The lamb cutlets were undercooked although the crumb was scrapped off it was evident they all were undercooked and very fatty. Again I accept I should have checked the screen I didn’t know was there even tho once pointed out I noticed it, but I feel there should be a sense of responsibility to double check with customers especially in times it’s very busy and loud. I’m not a fussy eater but due to the food quality under the beautifully presented meals we won’t be back when visiting the island again. Unfortunately this was the only not so good experience the 3 days we had here in...
Read moreThis cafe is a little hidden gem on the island. There is a great & tasty menu and fantastic outdoor area for social gathering that can include the most special family member the furry one. There are even dog treats in jars you can get the little guy/gal … they are a touch on the expensive side although the chicken kabob might be it’s $5.50 price tag as Leo woof this down pretty promptly. Unfortunately our visit coincided with some rather dismal wet weather but there was enough tables under over and warmed by lovely ceramic over head heat bars. On the first visit we enjoyed an awesome big brekkie special (The Big Social) which was able to accommodate a dietary need (to swap out the chillie beans for a rosstie). The pork sausage was the only disappointment on this plate being a tough too salty. This was the spot of choice for coffee pick me up the rest of the day. The next day was however an entirely different experience. The only dry zone outdoors was cut down by half for a large reservation. Seems that the inside area was not an option. The group still had not arrive an hour after opening. And involved a lot of table pushing & scraping while being set up. The woman (Des) taking orders at the counter was not accommodating to requests for item exchanges even though I was asking for items less than the extras-charge they would have been had I wanted to add them to my plate!! Conveniently there had been a “briefing just that morning” telling them (the new girls) there were no exchanges to menu items. When asked about the difference in the contents of the two dog biscuit options I was given a contemptuous response about the price (which were already displayed on the jars but one was $1.50 & the other $5 … surely there was a difference that justified the price?). In the end I grudgingly got one had chicken the other was a “compressed biscuit of some sort”. BTW the $1.50 compressed biscuit clearly had more than just biscuit … I would had a guess there was a sweet potato and bacon, maybe a chicken and possibly beetroot one. The dog loved them!! You’d think the woman who identified as the senior counter service person would know what was being sold and have much more pleasant customer service. But maybe it was the wet weather … little of the service that was provided either day came with a smile (I wonder about the work culture here???). Shame really as the venue is really quite brilliant in its concept. And clearly support well by...
