I had the absolute pleasure along with my wife & a group of people from the Carseldine Probus Club last Thursday morning, the 19th of September 2024, to visit the Bribie Island Seaside Museum 🏝 🏝. This contemporary museum, which is located 1 South Esplanade, Bongaree QLD 4507 in Apex Park, is in an ideal location overlooking the bay & Pumistone Passage. The Seaside Museum has a website moretonbay.qld.gov.at that provides information 😀 They have a telephone number (07) 5433 2596. Admission to this historical museum is free to everyone 😀 The Seaside Museum has interesting artefacts from Bribie Islands history, such as the growth of tourism & arrival of holiday makers via the popular steamboat ferry the "Koopa"! We saw a detailed display about Bongaree, who was Matthew Flinders' travelling companion & the man who the town is named after. Feline lovers will appreciate the exhibit about Matthew Flinders seafaring cat Trim 🐈 We took in the sights of a variety of sea creatures preserved in specimen bottles. We learnt & saw a detailed video of the local reclusive artist Ian Fairweather & learnt about his extraordinary raft trip from Darwin to Roti Island in Indonesia 🏝 The Bribie Island Seaside Museum is family-friendly with kids zone & a gift shop. So,if you are looking at something different to do while visiting or spending time on Bribie Island, this is definitely worth stopping by.

Bribie Island Seaside Museum has many interactive activities such as origami and a bird hunt for kids. Interesting artefacts from Bribie Island history such as growth of tourism and arrival of holidaymakers via the popular steamboat ferry. There is an informative display about Bongaree who was Mathew Flinders travelling companion and the man who the town is named after. Feline lovers will appreciate the exhibit about Flinders seafaring cat Trim. Take in the sight of a variety of sea creatures preserved in specimen bottles. Learn about local reclusive artist Ian Fairweather including his extraordinary raft journey from Darwin to Roti, his love of local wildlife and use of Asian painting techniques. Marvel at the distances flown by local migrating shorebirds. Pleasing free outing.

There was an exhibition called "Bridging Now to Next" today. Unfortunately, I didn't participate in it. When I arrived, they were already packing up. When I entered, a tall man greeted me warmly. He asked me where I was from. He said that he had a friend who was also from Taiwan (or had been to Taiwan, because I heard that he traveled everywhere, and then learned martial arts (Kung Fu). Finally, I think he said that if I had any questions about the exhibition, I could ask him.

A lovely free small museum full of lots of information and some artefacts recalling the history of Bribie Island. Periodical exhibitions of other things such as an art challenge exhibits or Da Vinci machines brought to life (currently). Right on the waterfront of Pumicestone Passage with beautiful calm waters and sandy beach. Air conditioned with a children's craft space and a unisex bathroom. Small gift shop. Parking adjacent and several eateries within easy walking distance and Brennan Park with a playground and good for picnics. Wheelchair friendly, including access ramp, bathroom and...
