Dined in app 11.15am only I other patron dining at the time, ordered grilled (gluten free) snapper and a serving of coleslaw and a coffee. While waiting for meal to arrive the kitchen and serving staff participated in rather loud banter, too loud considering the kitchen is open and faces main entry of business which is on a main walkway for pedestrians. And the kitchen staff was using language which is not always considered acceptable with customers and potential new customers. I cleared my throat VERY loudly which was noticed by serving staff and language was cleaned up. Meal arrived, fish was nice and hot, a little oily but edible as I’d just come of fasting for a blood test. But the coleslaw app 2 tablespoons full (charged $9) was woeful. Made mainly of white cabbage, which was dark grey in spots, a sprinkling of purple cabbage, a few chives, app 6 or 7 PIECES of grated carrot stirred thru a tart mayo??? Inedible. As the server walked past, I drew her attention to it, she offered to refund the $9 which I accepted, and she said she would bring it to the attention of the kitchen. It’s been many years since we have visited here due to poor food handling last time but will not be going back again. Bring back the original owners, as I’m not sure how current owners have...
Read moreService was great; the girls on were hapy and jovial and did everything to make our stay pleasant. However, we went in for oysters and there were none left. Which was fine, but disappointing. The food was appaling for seafood. We ordered calamari, the greek salad and the seafood platter for two. Thinking that with "fish" in the name, you would be able to cook a good selection of seafood. Not true. Everything was deep fried. Paying $49.90 for a platter of grease is NOT value for money. Presentation was appaling too. Just all the deep fried seafood thrown ontop of fries. Little consideration given to the food. The oil the seafood is cooked in, was not fresh, everything came woth a hint of burn. The seafood platter came with everything on the menu EXCEPT the octopus. I would seriously be considering the function of a kitchen who is willing to charge gourmet prices for fish and chip quality. Seafood is an art. Deep frying eveything and not providing EVERYTHING expected for the meal is lazy. Would have spoken to the kitchen people but because I work in one for 12 hours a day it was the last thing i want to do. Two stars for service and the greek salad. Would not recommened for foodies; but fine for people of the deep...
Read moreCame in to order two chicken burgers for a late lunch. The service was appalling to say the least. The girls on the counter had the most sour look on their faces, seriously if you don’t like your job then don’t show it on your face. Very bluntly asked if we were eating in or taking away and when we asked if we could add cheese to our burgers she simply rolled her eyes and said no. No explanation or anything. We were happy to pay extra for a slice of cheese on our burger but to get a straight no is just absurd. If you run this establishment maybe train your staff in basic customer service skills because it makes a huge difference. We are Cleveland locals and have had poor experiences here in the past but decided to give another chance to Fish on Fire which we regret wholeheartedly. Seems the manager was seated behind me as well while I was talking to my partner about the service and this review. I also don’t appreciate the condescending attitude you gave us as we left your shop. If you’re a customer and you’ve made it this far in the review do yourselves a favour and dine else where. There is plenty of other decent fish and chip shops within...
