We had tickets to a show at the nearby Redlands performing arts Centre and decided to try out this little unassuming little place. From the outside it didn't look like much and nearby restaurants were full and pumping by the time of our booking.
When we walked in there was one large table with a celebration and not many others. No big deal but people bring people. We sat down and straight away the waitress made an impression. She was friendly full of energy and made it clear that we had picked the right place.
We ordered some drinks and then a small restaurant with 2 front of house staff got slammed, there was a line up out the door and they were all walk ins. Front of house were swamped to get people seated take orders and get the food out. While things may have taken a little bit longer to come out it was clear they were caught by surprise but they rose to the occasion.
And then came the food. Thier turkish bread was delicious although I couldn't tell the difference between the garlic glaze and normal it was still delicious. The dips were nice and tasted fresh. The mixed grill was generous with Lamb cutlet, lamb shish, chicken shish and kofta was a standout specifically the Lamb shish. I dont eat lamb usually but not an ounce of meat was left on that plate. The spices and herbs were a delight and this has quickly become one of my favourite middle eastern restaurants.
We were in a rush to finish up and get to our show so we didnt get to really relax and take our time but one of our party is definitely keen to try thier baklava.
For four of us with drinks it cost $175ish and there was more than...
Read moreIt was the first time there. Service was very slow. Hard to get the distracted staff at the counters attention. It took just under 15mins for us to be asked if we knew what we wanted to order. The food came out, it's wasn't as expected. My partner ordered the special which was chicken and Turkish bread. The chicken was the underside of the chicken and bits of gristle and the jelly like parts (not nice). I ordered the Lamb Pide which tasted close to what I'd expected however was very watery/wet on top and had a lot of onion and tomato chunks. The bread was burnt black closest to the topping. I lived in Turkey for a year so know what I've had when living there vs. an Australian restaurant. I would not go back here. If I want Turkish I'd drive all the way to Bulimba over this place. Also, there was a table of 4 (a family). When they paid and left the girls cleared the table and the 3/4 full water bottle that was used at their table was put back into the fridge to be pulled out for the next table that asked for water. I would have thought that it should have at least been cleaned and refilled before serving to others but I may just be looking into it based on the rest of the service we had. We will not return there and I know the people beside us really enjoyed their meal. I guess it's personal choices, so if you'd like to find out for yourself go for it. If you believe the reviews then this is as blunt as you'll get. Hope this...
Read moreWould give 0 stars if I could. We got there at 8:20pm and there wasn’t a single customer other than us. We ordered immediately yet our food didn’t come out until 9:30pm. It was a takeaway order and we were about to leave before realising they didn’t even give us cutlery. We thought at least the food would be good, based on the good reviews. But the meat was extremely overcooked and dry, the portions were tiny for the amount paid.. way over priced to pay $27 for 4 pieces of chicken. We asked for our rice to be replaced with salad in our chicken dish, but they didnt give us rice and they didn’t give us salad either- just the chicken. The mushroom sauce that came with the barramundi seemed like it was days old. The chips that came with it had an eyelash in it. The pides tasted like just dough with nothing on it.
Paid premium price for bad service and even worse food. Can say i won’t ever be...
