Both the service and food here is average at best. We literally only come here because my young kids can run around the grassy area nearby.
Meals come out one at a time - today I was waiting 15 minutes for my meal after the first meal arrived at our table. Coffees are regularly only luke warm and a "flat white" is usually far too frothy. I've had to send a flat white back several times (my grandma cannot drink the froth due to sensory issues). The meals are inconsistent - one week a toastie will be cold and the next, burnt on the edges. The Pad Thai is flavourless (and came with a lemon wedge instead of lime?), the BBQ pork wrap just tastes like sauce, the Thai Beef salad is 80% red onion. The Vermicelli chicken noodle salad is probably the best thing I've tried but once came with only 3 pieces of chicken (I counted...) and I was made to feel like an inconvenience when I mentioned this to the staff.
There are no warm greetings or any effort made to make us feel welcome even though we come here every fortnight for lunch. I literally only come here because my kids (might) eat the chicken nuggets and they can run around outside otherwise I would be taking my...
ย ย ย Read moreI am a regular at this new cafe in Cleveland, and since I started going there for coffee all I can say is this is what Cleveland really needed, and here are the reasons why. The place is well located, right beside the library with great views to the Harbour and away from the main road. As soon as you walk inside you feel a great and positive atmosphere, very friendly and inviting. The decor is fresh, tasteful and a lot of thought have been put into it. Then you have the staff members, the are all happy and chatty, always polite, and they call me by the name, asking how's your day been, or did you have a good weekend. The barista knows my order by heart and sometimes when I pop in for a take away, by the time I'm paying for the coffee, it's already made. It's always in the right temperature and consistent, even when they are busy. They always seem to care, always politely asking if everything is ok, or how was your food, or your coffee, and that for me, is a good sign of...
ย ย ย Read moreI had the eggs Benny and my wife had the acai bowl... by all accounts both were woeful. My wife's acai was watery, streaked all down the outside of the bowl and otherwise terrible. My eggs Benny was also regrettable, the GF bread turned to pulp underneath and was dyed green from what ever was in it and both eggs were completely covered in watery yellow ketchup sauce ... boy it was tough to poke down...also I had to saw through the bacon which was quite tough and as i did so the whole table shook (it was not attached properly) and only by employing the optimum stroke frequency was disaster averted... Even the thought of eating here again is jarring. To contrast this the Eggs Benny I had at Julz Cafe (just down the road) on the previous day was understated yet delicious.... Looks like my weekend was a tale of...
