Genuinely stoked with this gold nugget of a place! The Mrs wanted to take her mum out somewhere nice for Mama Bear's Day, and this won the, "have a crack and see!" prize. And it came away winning the, "fkn goes alright!" prize! We drove from the Goldy to North Brizzy to check out Four Mile Creek with 4 of us dining for the eve. As a side note, TONNES of easy parking outside. Not an eyelid was batted when we unfortunately answered, "No.. No reservation sorry" on Mother's Day - they gave a super friendly smile and sourced a table for us anyways, which we MASSIVELY appreciated, it really made the Mrs' Mum's night (and the Mrs') before it even began. Back-slaps and awesome high-fives all-round already for Four Mile Creek Hotel staff, and we haven't even sat down! The ambiance was nice and cozy and also friendly, Pepperjack wine bottle decor, tables and floors super clean - no rocking table; which is always off-putting, attentive smiling staff, teles all over to keep the ADHD of us entertained, the whole initial impression was positive af. The staff service, genuine engagement, and efficiency of meals after ordering was sublime! Those chefs out back don't f#*K around in that kitchen, they produce not just a tasty aye-eff meal, but also do it with precision and minimal wait time. I'd go and shake their hands and give them a fist-bump if i didn't think they'd probably tell me to rack off coz they're busy working their butts off. Kudos to them when someone has a minute to tell them they're doing a stellar job! We shared a lemon pepper calamari for the entree - that you'd sell your 1st born for! I had a paprika prawn/chorizo pasta, the Mrs had ribs, bro in-law had ribs & steak, mama bear had a special parmy or similar chicken dish - may have been a chicken and bacon dish? It was a one-off chicken dish for mother's Day, can't quite remember the exact dish..? As stated, the calamari was divine, and the sauce with it was a fantastic accompaniment! We almost physically fought over the entree - but, coz it was Mama's Day, I yielded my last piece. I kept my mother in-law happy with my last piece of tender and tasty calamari - what have YOU done lately (for your mother in-law?!) Just sayin'... My pasta was amazeballs! The amount of paprika was on-point, pasta cooked just perfect, the prawns were plentiful and oh so DAMN delicious. The Mrs grumbled (JOKINGLY! Jokingly) that her ribs kept pulling straight out of the meat - her eyes were wide, and her tastebuds and belly were kneeling and praying to her plate like some weird YooToob worship video. I wasn't jealous at the way she stared lovingly at her meal, wasn't jelly at all. Just sayin'.. The bro in-law was eerily quiet during his meal - which is a surefire sign he's heartfelt invested, and not turning back to socialise after just one mouthful of his meal. Now THAT'S saying something! And last, but definitely not least, the mama bear in-law. Her chicken dish had her like a teary girl at the end of a typical rom-com chick-flick, all glassy eyed, not knowing where to look, reminiscing her adventures and now future with Four Mile Creek Hotel - that sorta stuff. Then... Then? I had to go and order everyone a piece of, 'I dare you not to order it!' macadamia mango cheesecake. That tasty after dinner treat was something you'd tell your grandkids about, like seriously, tell long tales of, "The time I had macadamia mango cheesecake at the Four Mile Creek Hotel" kinda talk! I swear I saw the girls eyes roll back in thier heads a little when their spoons hit their mouths! Oh yeah! Before I forget, Iron Jack schooey's on tap for cheap as chips??! Yet ANOTHER reason this place rocked our socks off on Mother's Day eve. And ANOTHER oh yeah! We went for a wander into the pokie room next door, I chucked a $20 in, and walked away with $60 within seconds! Fricken amazing night or what??! Will be back for repeat visits PLENTY of times, thank you so much for a stellar evening for the mother in-law, everyone at the Four Mile Creek Hotel. You guys and girls are awesome-sauce to the 79th...
Read moreEDITED FOR 2022 REVIEW AFTER MOST RECENT VISIT: Very disappointed with our most recent visit. Used to love this place but has gone downhill. Bar staff seemed to have no idea what they were doing and one had to ask the other what merlot was. Longest it has ever taken to get our drinks, even filling a glass of lemonade seemed to be hard to do.
No paper menus so my 95 year old grandfather had to have the menu read to him. My partners elderly mother doesn't have a smart phone so also had no access to a menu if we couldn't read it to her. Menus are ONLY through a code you scan on the table (yes we did ask if physical ones were available). How are older or less technological customers expected to read a menu if they don't have a smart phone/vision good enough to read it on a phone screen?
When ordering, it asks for a tip. I do not like being asked to provide a tip when we had received NO service at this point. The only staff interaction we had at the point of order was someone behind the bar pointing us in the general direction of our reserved table (didn't leave the bar, just pointed in a vague direction). Tip culture needs to stay in America. Don't ask patrons for tips especially before they've received any food or any form of service. Tipping is if we have exceptional service and think the staff deserve an extra little thank you.
The saving grace was that the food was decent. Not the best but not bad by any means. Only complaint (very minor) was that the king avo schnitzel had no hollandaise. That said there was plenty of bacon and avo (which a lot of places seem to skimp on). Ribs were tender and slathered in an amazing sauce and the seafood meals received compliments.
Old review: Fantastic food, staff are amazing and great menu to choose from. Would happily...
Read moreWe regularly attended the 4 mile to watch the UFC, have a meal & play the pokies. Today, in the public bar, the staff were friendly & helpful & our meals were good. We then moved into the pokie lounge to have a coffee & play the pokies. After asking the girl at the bar about how their coffee is made - on milk or water - she replied that it was just "normal" coffee.. to which I continued to ask about the quantity of milk used. She very rudely said it came from a machine, she just pressed a button & pointed to show me. I explained that I had no idea how it works, I just wanted to know if it was made on water or milk. She could not have been any less helpful. When the manager walked past, my partner followed him & asked how the coffee machine worked. He wasn't particularly polite when he referred to her being a miserable cow, to which the duty manager, Pete, proceeded to chastise him for speaking of his staff that way. My partner immediately apologised & acknowledged his rudeness, but Pete continued to raise his voice & swear at my partner. He made a spectacle in front of everyone & as I asked him not to speak to my partner like that, he began to swear and rant at me too. I was appalled at the lack of service, professionalism & basic courtesy to paying customers. I will never again go to this establishment. Very disappointed. They have lost our regular patronage & that of our friends who witnessed this disappointing...
