PURE DISAPPIONTMENT,
The company says to their ignorant customers that they are offering them Traditional Greek flavours? Freshly cooked meat? Freshly made pita bread? WOW!
Well, If you have no idea what Greek street food is.. go for it, you may like it, but, if you are familiar with Greek flavours and freshness… I’d advice keep looking, this is not the place for you.
I am a proud Greek from Melbourne and I have a lot of experience in Greek street food, (by that I don’t mean I am a harsh critic, not at all, I mean I love Greek street food and I will support businesses that ofer it to customers here in Australia) and I have “kept an eye” from the beginning of the The Yiros shop and I always wanted to “check them out” as it all looked pretty authentic then.
Well, I was in Qld lately and I couldn’t wait to taste their food, I went to the Rothwell brunch and I was shocked to see how FAKE and COMMERCIALISED it had become! The Yiros Shop?? What yiros shop?? What I saw there I would call it THE YIROS DISGRACE! There wasn’t any Yiros meat on the Yiros! machines! (Yiros machine is the vertical rotating meat cooker) what they had was..3 machines with nothing on them!! They were there to mislead the customers! They told us that they had been very busy and that was the reason the 3 machines had no meat on them!! but, It was around 5:30 pm! The machines were sparkling clean already! We knew at that point that…. Everything was precooked and reheated on the sandwich press that we could see on the bench next to the machines! We didn’t order anything here, we just went to the North Lakes brunch to see what was going on there, The same disgrace here also, After having a chat with this lovely young lady that explained how it all worked….
We still decided to place an order even we knew we wouldn’t like the food, lamb yiros wrap was bad! really really bad! the meat was like tasteless wormed up cardboard!
The pork patty wrap was 5 times horrible! The 4 thin and pre cooked and then reheated pork patties had no taste what so ever! They were so dry they where nearly crunchy! Eating them alone I couldn’t tell what I was eating! Chips with feta? Nor really! Chips with ricotta maybe, or something similar white substance totally tasteless!!
There are “twists” in all “authentic” dishes yes but this one is not Greek with a twist, this food was miles away from fresh, and miles away from traditional Greek flavours!
This concept, regardless of how well it may or may not do, it has deliberately been given the misleading wrong name,
“The Yiros Shop” should have the meat shaved fresh off the spits….NOT PRECOOKED then FROZEN? and then REHEATED!!!
*The company advertises that…it offers freshly cooked meat, freshly made pita bread and so many other misleading promises, this is probably illegal misleading advertising!
PS: No, I am not a competitor or a hater, I am just a hugely disappointed Greek street food lover and a humble...
Read more1 Star – Disappointing decline in quality Came back for the second time in a few weeks hoping the last bad experience was just a one-off. Last time we went through the drive-thru and the yiros was tasteless and dry—really disappointing considering we’ve had great food here in the past.
This time we decided to walk in, thinking maybe it’d be better. The vibe inside was strange with loud emo music blasting, but we gave it a shot anyway. Staff were fine, but unfortunately the food was just as bad, if not worse. I got a mixed lamb and chicken yiros and it tasted like cardboard. Meat was dry, bread was cold, and not even the sauce could save it. Even the feta fries were bland and soggy.
Spent $49 for two yiros and fries and walked away seriously let down. This place used to be a favourite, but unless something changes soon, we...
Read moreI came in with my partner a week ago on a monday morning to order breakfast, and boy did I feel so bad for the girl that worked that morning…it seemed to be just her doing all the work as two of her colleagues talked away while she struggled to do orders and manage customers at the same time!
She was so polite and apologised for the wait ( I ordered in five minutes and she completed it in 3) she gave me a smile before she went back to do more orders while her colleagues complained to her about how long they should take!
It was shocking as she stood her ground and kept that beautiful smile on her face as they asked if she was okay! If I was her I’d be in a corner crying!!
Overall everything was beautifully made as she made me and my partners morning...
