We loved this cafe before what happened to us a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately the shop manager is not polite at all. A couple of weeks ago we had a catch up with some of our friends (11 in total) in San Churro Hillarys in the evening. My kid wanted to have a pizza. I went to Little C's next to San Churro to by a pizza for my kid. Suddenly I saw the cafe manager came into pizza shop and checked where we are sitting, when I showed my friends, he said you are not allowed to sit in the cafe outside seat area and need to move to Little C's seat area. Then without checking with me he went and asked all my friend to move! I said that just my kid wanted a pizza and we all ordered to San Churro so they don't need to move. My poor kid became very upset as we had to be isolated just for a pizza! One of my friends tried to explain the manager that just a kid from a group of 11 people had pizza but he responded impolitely by shaking his hand and said "No, he has to seat out of our area". Even the pizza shop stuff became depressed and suggested to put our pizza into a box rather than their dish and move to the other side. When we checked with other stuff of the cafe, they were surprised as well. One of my friend said probably he is the new manager as she didn't see him there before. Finally we finished our catch up but not very happy. The next morning my wife had a coffee catch up with some of her friends at San Churro (as usual) but when she explained what happened to us the night before, they decided to go to Dom cafe. When they reached to Dom cafe they saw the cafe is full of people while just a couple of people were in San Churro (I think it could be an alarm for the owner to think about it). Actually I wanted to ignore this rude behavior but I decided to raise this case as this cafe was one of my favorite cafes. My office is in Woodvale and I had all my coffee meetings in San Churro but since then, I have decided to made all my appointments in Dom cafe. I am open to discuss about it if the owner has any...
Read moreThe service today was absolutely atrocious and has probably turned me off of San Churro’s for good.
Ordered using the at table ordering system was fine with the only comfort complaint being that despite being a lovely day at side it was extremely warm and stuffy at the table. It took about 5 minutes for the churros to come out which was fine. The coffee and hot chocolate took 10 minutes after that which seemed like far too long and was quite annoying because the churros has been finished at this point.
The issue however is despite asking on 3 seperate occasions it took an extra 35 minutes after that for the lemon tart and lava cake - fridge items - to arrive. The excuse given was there was a broken machine which seemed like a bit of a lie as nobody else in the restaurant had been waiting anywhere near as long and even after telling us the first time about this issue it still took 15 minutes after that. We asked if anything would be provided as compensation for the extended wait time and they denied this request saying that it wasn’t possible to provide ALL the people affected with something free, again, all the people is a serious extension of the truth and the restaurant was far from full.
Despite the wait time and lack of compensation being beyond a joke; we also take particular issue with the treatment of Juniour staff. The very young waitress did the best she could in the situation so for the more senior members of staff to send out the youngest worker in the store to deliver the joke of decision that is no compensation to upset customers is beyond...
Read morethe worst san churro experience to date!
coincidentally these experiences usually only ever happen at this location.
decided to give this spot a try (again) after many, many months of avoiding it like the plague. a decision that would soon be the worst decision made that totally ruined our saturday night out.
what was seemingly a normal wait in line on a busy saturday night quickly went downhill. after a friend managed to be seated on the table just infront of the counter, a couple of friends started ordering when it was their turn. when it came to my turn to order the girl at the counter refused to serve me as i had apparently pushed in, even though i was still in line but had slightly stepped aside to hear what my friend wanted as it was quite busy and loud.
i told the girl behind the counter this, but after folding and unfolding the the dirty napkin that was in her hand she told me i had to line up again.
who knew discrimination was still a thing, especially when you just want to order some chocolates and churros?
now onto the food, churros and croffles were very undercooked. and the sundaes were served in takeaway plastic drink cups, which ruined the aesthetics and appeal of enjoying them. and all of the cups (including the sundae cup) was very greasy and felt very dirty which put me off eating anything that was ordered.
if you are reading this, please pleaaaaase avoid this place. take a nice cruise down the coast or drive down the road and enjoy your churros elsewhere cause the only thing you will receive from here is major...
