Richmond Sweets and Treats is an absolute gem! The moment I stepped inside, I felt like I’d been transported back in time. The shop has that wonderful old-fashioned lolly shop charm — rows of classic sweets in glass jars, retro candies, and colourful displays that spark pure nostalgia — but it also offers a great selection of more modern lollies and treats, making it a perfect blend of past and present.
The building itself is full of heritage character, with its historic walls and timber detailing giving the whole place a special atmosphere that fits perfectly with the rest of the Richmond village. It’s a beautiful reminder of Tasmania’s colonial past, and just walking in makes you feel like you’re part of that history.
Whether you’re looking for something sweet for yourself or a fun gift for someone else, this place is well worth a visit. A must-stop if you’re...
Read moreWARNING: DO NOT BUY ICE CREAM IF YOU HAVE AN ALLERGY.
Unfortunately, I can't rate any hire as I am disgusted with their handling of food. They label sorbet as dairy free, then proceed to serve ice cream and then dip the same scoop into sorbet, which cross contaminates. When we approached them and asked if they would clean the scoop between each flavour, they said they don't claim to be dairy free. . . but they have 'dairy free' written on the label. When I asked to speak to the manager, she then came out and was quite rude. We left without purchasing anything as I won't support a business who falsely labels something, especially when it involves someone's health. For us, my son is dairy intolerant, but I thought afterwards about the fact that there are ice cream there with NUTS, and they are cross contaminating them, which can be life or death for...
Read moreSoon after we walked in my daughter and I picked up a jar of honey and then straight after for no reason we had almost every staff member staring at us, judging us and eavesdropping on conversations as if we were going to steal from them?. We obviously werent going to steal the $7 jar of honey, neither of us even had bags and my daughter was holding it out in the open the whole time while we continued looking through the store. Very weird. We totally enjoyed our stay in Richmond until visiting this store. Most lollies here can be purchased anywhere for a far better price. One staff member kept glaring at us the whole time and gave us the dirtiest looks and we felt very unwelcome. Emily was the exception, she was super friendly, pity all of the team were not like her. Really disappointing after being...
