Saltwater Cafe Review on 26/4/2024 I give my highest commendation to the owner manager and the staff before I begin my comment. My group of 8 adults and 2 young children are on vacation at the nearby town, and decide to have fish and chips dinner for a change. The menu togatger with prices is written in white on two blackboards at the entry. On the glass of the front are posted with the winning award certificates earned by the business. This quaint Cafe with clinically white wall is tastefully decorated. Even the tables are covered by replica of newspaper printed with news of yesteryears. A sweet voice of a young staff greets us, and settles us at a "long" table which has been set up. The owner who seldom comes to Cafe in the evening, makes a special trip to help her staff knowing that a "big" group is coming. This is our first visit to the Cafe, and we feel so welcomed. Before our orders arrive, we try to get everyone togather for a group photo. With our asking, the staff offers to be our photographer. We ord3r different items from menu. The food presentation is good, and the seafood is very fresh. Unlike other restaurants / Cafe where the content of the Seafood basket is placed in a stainless steel wire basket, Saltwater Cafe uses small bamboo steamers, just like those use for Chinese Dim Sums. The staff and the manager come to table several times to make sure everything is alright. My grand niece has one of her baby tooth fallen off. The staff gives the little girl a bag to hold the tooth, and she plays the Tooth Fairy to give her a generous amount of "tooth fee". It is a great dining experience - quality food and excellent service! PS Saltwater Cafe could become the world's first seafood dim sum producer one day.

Saltwater Cafe is the place to go if youâre after a high quality local seafood meal in Kiama with great friendly service. This is the second time coming to this eatery and it was just as sensational as I remembered. I ordered the cold and hot platters (with lobster as an extra) which can easily feed 3-4 people generously. Had a lovely chat with the chef who is very knowledgeable about all the seafood. And is serious about serving up high grade seafood. The highlight for me was the oysters which are source from Narooma. They are tiny but packed with creamy sweetness and an absolute delight to eat. The tiger prawns and mussels were sweet and juicy and the crab salad seasoned very well. The salad was very refreshing and a nice accompaniment to the cold platter. The hot patter was also a delight. The hoki fish cocktails were coated and seasoned to perfection. Calamari rings also lightly crumbed and cooked just right. This seafood fry-up is an example of how to do it exceptionally well. The half lobster was served warm and was very succulent. The accompanying sauce was sweet and zesty and paired really well with the flesh. Everything was prepared with care and high professionalism. I highly recommend Seawater Cafe for any foodies visiting Kiama. Even their coffee was really really good. Thank you for an awesome lunch!

Absolutely delighted by the Seniors Fish & Chips at Saltwater Cafe Kiama! This isn't just another fish and chips dish; it's a culinary experience that's emblematic of the ocean-side setting. The fish is the star of the showâcooked to perfection, its texture is flaky, moist, and brimming with fresh flavors that taste as if it were caught just minutes before hitting the fryer. The batter is light and crispy, offering just the right amount of crunch without overshadowing the fish. It perfectly complements the tender interior, making each bite a perfect blend of texture and taste. As for the chips, they're equally phenomenalâgolden, crispy, and seasoned just right. They act as the perfect sidekick to the fish, making every mouthful a well-rounded experience. To top it off, the portion sizes are generous, giving you a hearty meal that satisfies without leaving you overstuffed. Whether you're a local or just passing through, you absolutely can't miss this. It's more than a meal; it's an experience that celebrates the essence of seaside living. Highly recommendâfive stars all the way!

Where do you go in Kiama for a special order takeaway hot and cold seafood platter for a birthday? We found the answer to be Saltwater. With thanks to Gulcin and Chef Jason, a delicious platter was created using fresh Australian seafood. Featuring whole rock lobster, red prawns and a selection of deep fried seafood, together with crispy chips, vibrant Greek salad, sauces and lemon wedges. For the vegetarians a delicious creamy pesto penne was suggested, and we loved the addition of the vine-ripened roasted cherry tomatoes. The food was packed for easy travel but also presented beautifully to allow for immediate transfer to the table when we got home. Given how busy Saltwater has been recently with raising much-needed funds for Turkiye, we couldn't have been happier that Gulcin and Chef Jason agreed to provide this special order for us within a short timeframe and at a very reasonable price. Thank you so much Gulcin and Chef Jason, we look forward to seeing you soon!

The food was ok and to be honest, not seasoned well, if at all. The hot seafood platter required you to have to season it and similarly the chips were soggy and tasteless. The cold seafood platter had some sort of dressing doused all over the dish which is part was tolerable. The problem was that both dishes had fruits stuck in between the seafood. If youâre not going to eat them then theyâre great for presentation but if they were meant to be eaten, the flavours of the fruits and the dressing do not mix well at all. The mango smoothie and chocolate milkshake were both quite nice. The service was also quite chaotic and messy. They served us our food but had made us wait at least 10mins before they could give us any cutlery. The price of our meal was also quite dear in our opinion.

I was a bit disappointed with my meal, especially after we had received a good recommendation from a family member. We came for breakfast and had the smashed avo were ok, but the order of eggs and sausages that we had were very underwhelming. The sausages were of poor quality. They seemed to have a lot of gristle in them. Also, the bread was stale. Instead of being soft and folding around my sausage, it broke in half when I attempted to fold it. I just wanted a slice of fresh white bread. I did not get that. The service from the young man at the counter was excellent. He was very efficient and very polite. He had a very attentive attitude. The coffee was ok too. The food was delivered quickly, despite being quite busy. It's just a shame that the food wasn't of great quality.
