Cosy indeed! We had a lovely dinner at Cosy Del's. The atmosphere is mellow and sophisticated without being pretentious.

The restaurant kind of shares a location with Laika cafe in a row of shops. They are separated by a wall, with an open doorway. While laika has a bigger kitchen and seating area, Cosy Del's has a strip of tables along one side wall and opens up to more tables in the back yard that is shared with Laika. There's also a couple of small tables available on the pavement in front of the restaurant. There's ample parking, some right in front of the restaurant and plenty round the nearby park and school. The tiny open kitchen is in the middle of the place and efficiently staffed with three or four people.

The wait staff were lovely and friendly, they really get the balance of attentiveness right. Food was served pretty quickly considering how many tables were full.

The menu is quite small, and mostly seem to be made for sharing. The dishes we choose were all delicious and done well. We had the Burrata with pickled fennel - this came in a little pool of salsa rossa and oil with some thin toasted focaccia crackers, it was a really nice starter, light and fresh Octopus spiedion with cannellini salmoriglio - kind of tasted like a mild lemony hummus puree with a skewer of grilled octopus on it, it was lovely although the portion seemed a bit small compared to the other dishes.

We got extra sourdough with smoked butter to go with the two first dishes - there's never enough bread/crackers to go with cheese at restaurants!

Tagliatelle - burro asido, asparagus, primo sale and hazel. The pasta noodles were really thin ribbons and cooked perfectly. There wasn't sauce so much as asparagus, kale and hazelnuts fried in burro asido - that coated the pasta nicely primo sale crumbled on top.

Black Angus scotchy - romesco, potatoes, and garden herbs. The steak was a generous portion and perfectly cooked to medium rare (they didn't ask for our preference, so if you would like a more 'done' steak you would have to specify) served on a puree that tasted like roast capsicum with herbs and some picked shallots on top. I found this to be very slightly to be the only dish that was a bit salty, but overall still delicious. It comes with a side plate of potatoes.

We also got the Panna Cotta - mulberry lemon thyme shortbread, beet. This was the only dessert option. Really delicious. The Panna Cotta itself was very soft but held its shape, perfect wobble. The accompanying sauce and crumble complemented the pudding so well.

This restaurant would be perfect for an intimate date where you're comfortable enough to share food - like an anniversary dinner. I think in weeknights they have a more relaxed family friendly vibe with like pizzas and live music in...

I just don't think this is our sort of place. We were sat right at the entrance in front of the open door and the night air was very cool. No one seemed to notice that I was very obviously cold.

We got the run down on the menu from one staff member and then a second one came and told us all about it again. We had to ask what alcohol free drinks there are. I know these guys are very proud about their wine list but it's 2023, lots of people are looking for alcohol free options these days. When our drinks came they were not what we'd ordered and we did not enjoy them. We didn't say anything because we thought we'd misunderstood the explanation of the drinks. It wasn't until we heard the non alcoholic options being told to someone else that we realised it wasn't us who'd misunderstood.

The venue is set up really weird but I get that it's a small space they are trying to make the most of. However if you're going to have your kitchen smack bang front and centre in the middle of the dining area maybe ask your chefs not to have loud obnoxious conversations the entire time they're working. One of the chefs would not shut up and we could hear every single word he was saying. It stopped us from being able to have our own conversation.

Also, if you're going to have a menu that's designed to share it might be good to have tables that are designed to hold many plates. It was so awkward to find room for our main dishes and the plates we were eating from.

The food was ok. It all felt like it was trying very hard but not quite getting there. Nothing quite lived up to its promise.

Overall, while we appreciate the effort that went into Cosy Del's, we didn't enjoy our experience. We really wanted to like it but it's not for us. We won't be going back.

EDIT: we also didn't get the olives we ordered but on the plus side they didn't try to charge us for...

Went to Cozy Del's last night with a group of friends, 9 people in total. Given our group size we were told we'd have to do the set menu for $60pp. We had a good long table near the kitchen and the restaurant had a super cute vibe. It took a while to get acknowledged after we sat down and even longer to place a drink order. The service was pretty chaotic like they were understaffed or all new. We ordered some drinks, 2 of which got charged for and never arrived, this happened later in the night with a bottle of wine that just never arrived.

The service vibe was a bit like, "order and hope." The set menu was pretty light on in terms of food quantity and they subbed out a whole course (the ragu) for a vego dish (gnocchi) for the whole table which meant that everyone got 4 gnocchi each for that course. When we have done similar menus at bread in common or petition you normally get a vego substitute meal, so this was a little odd. Food was kind of plonked on the table sporadically without explanation, also without serving cutlery and no replacement of cutlery between courses so you had to use your used cutlery for a shared meal, again a little odd. For mains, we got the steak and barramundi which were really tasty and well cooked but again very small servings for a table of 9 and the vegos were an afterthought with one small basic parpadelle to share.

When we got the bill, they had charged us for the drinks we had ordered but never arrived and charged us twice per person for the food. Overall, it was a chaotic experience and despite the food quality and really cute vibe, I don't think we'll be going back in...

I have been here twice prior with other people and i could not forget how the steak tasted. So I proudly brought my husband (for the third time) so he can try the angus scotchy steak. But I was disappointed on my first bite. I am usually easy to please, but I remember too well how it tasted when I dined here last. The steak I remembered which was medium well, seemed to melt in my mouth. The one served to us this time had a chewy/gummy texture and aftertaste of blood. It wasn't bad, don't get me wrong, but not as delicious as the twice I have been here with the same food. As of service, the person who attended to us did not ask how we want it cooked. After eating our entree, we wondered and had to query - we found out they serve it as medium rare unless we ask otherwise. We asked for medium well then. I don't know if it was a different chef, but the food this time made me apologize to my husband for dragging him more than 50kms to dinner date just because he loves his steak and I thought he will love the steak here. It wasn't the same as I remembered. Maybe it was the steak batch itself, not how it was cooked or who cooked it. I don't know.
