Cafe Bella rosa, don't waste your time. Made a booking two days before the Saturday evening, which later when we voiced the countless issues we had with the night, they commented it was a late booking they thought they could make work but obviously it didn't. If it's a late booking don't take it, we could have easily gone somewhere else.
We arrived for our booked time of 7pm to not have the tables ready, they then had to separate muliptle tables to accommodate the two groups; they don't seem to have an adequate booking system in place.
We sat, a group of 7, they saw we had wine so they bought out 7 glasses from the dishwasher still wet and all mismatched. We decided to order an entree of garlic bread, which on the menu says garlic bread $5, no specification for how many pieces. The guy who took the order just said "ok, so enough for everyone at the table? Done" again no mention of how many pieces in a serving or extra cost. Waited half and hour for that to come out and then had to wait another 30 minutes to order mains. Seeing tables arrive after us, some with bookings some without, the moving of tables to fit people in, seeing these people order after us and receive their food before us became abit of a joke. The place is byo alcohol and yet we witnessed one of the main staff walk down the road to liquourland and buy two bottles of wine to then serve on table 20 who arrived after us... Our food finally arrived after 9pm (1hr 40mins later from ordered time!) right as we were talking about leaving. The food was fine but nothing great. Although being so hungry we just ate quickly to leave quickly at this point. As we left, we mentioned to management that it was a disappointing experience, she actually shrugged & said sorry we felt that way & hope to see us back. Blew off every comment made to her & pretty much took no responsibility at all. A terrible way to run a restaurant. She didnt seem all there either.
Got home with the handwritten bill (after asking for her to write one out for our records) only to realise we had been over charged for 4 dishes, charged for three serves of garlic bread when it wasn't mentioned to us that thats what it was, got charged for a takeaway container with no mention at the restaurant of any charge & illegally there was no mention or display to tell you there is a card surcharge for payment. We rang to speak to the manager, got hung up on 3 times, so some of the guests drove back to the restaurant to sort it out seeing as though she refused over the phone. No apology, no ownership of mistake or concern for her customers, apart from her regulars maybe? Couldn't even have a rational conversation with this woman, she gave us $10 only when they had overcharged us $16.50 plus credit surcharge. She refused to engage, refused the correct refund & said she felt bullied by 2 females asking for the correct refund & to take our complaint seriously...with all her staff awkwardly wiping up dishes about 2meters behind her silent the entre time.
What a joke of a place. Avoid at all costs & book at one of the other eateries within walking distance where you will actually get a meal in a timely manner & not have to BYO snacks!! Would rate 0...
Read moreLook, this place was pumping & crazy busy. We had a booking for 7pm for 7 ppl. Table wasn't ready at 7.10pm, they had to kick a table out to clean, separate & then sit us. No worries! Then things went downhill fast. Thank jesus we bought our own wine bottles (we had FINISHED 3 by the time we got noticed for food!) Wine glasses they ran out of so we had mismatched glasses straight out of the dishwasher still wet... Our table was skipped ordering, the door is right next to us so people come in & you're like a show dog on display with everyone cramped in waiting on top of you... we managed to snag someone to order garlic bread about 7.30pm... it came out about 20mins later. That small piece of hope would have to hold us over for 1hr 20minutes....?!?!. Three tables who came after us, ordered & received food BEFORE us, even old mate went to the bottle' O down the street to get wine for table 20. We ordered FINALLY before 8pm...other table came, went , served, dessert. Now usually I don't really care but having worked in hospitality, having the old bird in the front bark out at one of our parties for standing to see where our food was: "it's coming!'...righto when, Christmas? Unacceptable. 8.55pm got main man's attention, can you please give us a time for our food? He had all the right words, why others would be served before us, it's busy, avoid the rush...um sir, we can't control when your staff take orders when you don't even have room to sit people walking in! Food arrived after they could see we were now not really impressed, our smiles now turning to annoyance & damn well anger. "Oh I promise next one is yours it's coming!" Alas, sweet jesus he came! A side caesar salad?...nope, it's a side Greek salad? ffs they laughed it off "oh my how could they get it wrong! Haha' you, we aren't laughing at this point & I'm past the point of games. Oh look, 9pm one by one the food comes out. Past hungry, past the point of enjoying it & wishing we had booked anywhere but here. Look to be fair, it's busy it must be good. But if you want to come here, book when the place opens, so you may eat at a reasonable hour & maybe enjoy your meal. Have some snacks in your purse A MUST!! & for the love of all things holy, don't come hungry. Ciao Bella. If all else fails, amichi miei is 50m away & really damn good. They don't f*ck around & you'll eat well, quickly & friendly. 9.12pm, the beef ravioli is not good. Feedback from male party, "taste like frozen packet pasta"
Goodluck & hope you have a better experience than...
Read moreWe read the reviews and thought we’d give it a try, as had had a coffee in there prior and it had a nice Italian family run feel, which reminded us of when we lived in Spain for years.
Very very disappointing, hadn’t quite finished our starters when they asked if we were ready for our mains. We said not quite yet, we’d would like a breather first. Within seconds the food arrived but we asked for a little bit longer as we were still eating the starter, which wasn’t the best antipasto but we were hungry.
When we did ask for the mains to be cooked, they turned up within minutes and you could tell they had been reheated using a microwave. The Spaghetti Bolognese was very over cooked where the pasta was sticking together and not al dente and the sauce was not nice. The Saltibocca was much the same with the meat very dry, sauce had dried up and generally not good. We were asked how the food was as we’d left most of it and explained the above. The waiter apologised and said it was freshly made. Then a female waitress said that they’d been freshly cooked, as the ones they’d already cooked while we were eating our starter had been passed to the staff and the other meal given to the Uber driver. This we felt wasn’t true but if it was then it makes the food even worse. They did offer a free coffee or dessert but by then we just wanted to leave 9:15pm. They did not take the meals off the bill or even offer to so we stupidly paid for very bad quality food. As mentioned we had chosen the place as it seemed to be an authentic Italian family run restaurant but we felt rushed, so more like a fast food place, not a pleasant experience, especially as one of the older female staff told us off for complaining in front of the owners table, this was in our mind very rude and unprofessional. Other staff members however were very polite, but we would still not recommend or go...
