This is the first time i have been to sunshine kebabs. From now on I will be sticking to smaller kebabs shops who prepare your meal at the same time. Not 10 people's meals in batches like sunshine kebabs did.
I really had high hopes for my dinner tonight due to the high number people I saw in the restaurant at 9pm however after buying my meal, I was sadly very disappointed.
At 9pm there was still a huge amount of people eating and ordering food.
This made the wait time for my food very long.
I ordered a large HSP at 9pm and did not receive the order until 9.35pm.
What made it worse apart from waiting so long for the food was that the food came out cold! They had to prepare all orders in batches so everyone's HSP had chips added first. 10 minutes later the meat was cooked and the staff then added the meat on top of the chips and then the orders finally went out.
This gave me a HSP with cold and soggy chips and meat that had cooled down due to being mixed with the cold chips as well as the cold sauce.
This was when I asked for crispy chips but obviously they were too busy to care.
Finally a large HSP at $25 was not a large HSP at all. Compared to smaller kebab shops who normally fill the box to the brim and the lids are hard to close, a Large HSP at sunshine kebabs is only half filled. May as well call it a medium HSP for the price of $25.
I hope the owners of Sunshine kebabs review their operations as it just was not good enough.
Everyone please stick to your local smaller kebab shops.
Large kebab shops like this who are super busy does not always mean...
Read moreI've eaten at many kebab shops nationwide, some great ones and a few that are happy being below average and really slipping down the mark so firstly thank you to Abdallah, the gentleman behind the counter who just arrived back from overseas and the rest of the staff for a great meal. This was my first time there after moving from interstate recently and I really enjoyed it apart from the meat being a little cold. Honestly Sunshine Kebabs I can see you're trying to do something different and being located right near a gym the 'healthy bowl' I ordered taps into a niche for fitness conscious people so I really respect what you're doing especially throwing in some great additions to the salad like the olives and fetta cheese. I caught the fella behind the counter a bit off guard when I requested something a little different as I was craving a little bit of chips so I told him to keep the $2.10 change from the $20 I paid with and put me a small serving which he explained he didn't think he could do but when I instructed him I understand it's only $2.10 and even if it's half a serving of a small chips that's fine the staff delivered above and beyond surprising me with a small (but generous sized) bowl! I couldn't recommend you guys do much different apart from maybe just separate the salad and meat to try and keep it warm and possibly offer bread or a variant with a portion of chips or rice. Just come here if you want a decent place to sit down and value for money to...
Read moreSunshine Kebabs in Underwood brought out a new wood fired pizza menu at 50% off earlier this month; the mention of discounted wood fired pizzas already had me interested but when I spotted the HSP flavour in the lineup, I knew I wanted to try it.
We had 2 large pizzas (usual price $16.90), and chose: BBQ pollo - BBQ sauce base, mozzarella cheese, marinated chicken, mushroom, capsicum HSP - pizza sauce, mozzarella cheese, chips, and choice of meat (chicken, doner, or mixed); given our other pizza had chicken, I went with doner for this one.
My high hopes for the HSP pizza were dashed - each bite felt too dry and carb-heavy, and after my first slice I wasn’t all that keen on another. The BBQ pollo on the other hand was full of flavour and well balanced, so this was a the clear winner for me. It was saucy and flavourful enough that I thought why not try stacking it with a slice of HSP? Well it’s not going to win any awards for brilliance, but it works :)
The pizzas are a pretty decent size, and have a thick base/crust, so they’re fairly filling. We only managed to eat 1 and 1/8th worth of our 2 pizzas, but spread a bit of sunshine by gifting the leftovers to a friend.
There are 9 pizza flavours altogether and I’d be keen to return to try some of the others like the meat lovers, the sunshine special, and the peri peri chicken. I also spotted some char grill meats sizzling away and looking all “eat me, eat me” so would be down for some of...
