Website shows the wrong photo for VEGE BLACK as it has pieces of pork in it in the photo. Drove down and the photo on the window was correct and showed no meat. I wanted to double check to be safe so I asked the waitress “Is the Vege black vegetarian?” She said “yes it is” so my mum and I sat down. Both our ramens came and the broth looked the same as my mums who’s wasn’t vegetarian. I had a couple bites but didn’t feel good about it so I asked her what the broth is made from. She tells me she’s not sure and goes to ask the chef. She comes back to tell me it’s pork broth… Our usual ramen place uses a mushroom broth for their vegetarian ramen.
The waitress said the chef offered to make a vegetarian one but I wasn’t going to trust it at that point and I got a refund instead.
This is super unacceptable and wrong.
So if you’re vegetarian, probably best to give this...
Read moreA long-awaited meal at Ikkairo Ramen in Underwood after multiple visits to the 8 Street branch. Is the ramen better here as some people say? No idea, cos we had bentos!
Our order: tonkatsu bento honey soy karaage bento
All bentos are $12.50, and come with one of five main protein options, plus sides of takana, fried gyoza, salad, mayo noodle, and tartar sauce (or tonkatsu sauce for the tonkatsu bento). There are also 3 curry bento options at $13.50 which I'll probably try another time.
The bento options are only available at this branch, so I've been keen to try them out. Overall I think they're pretty decent value and a good portion size (we shared the two bentos amongst 2 adults and 1 child). I found the main proteins to be pretty solid and all the accompanying elements pleasing to my palate. Would be happy to order again, though next time I will aim to...
Read moreHave been in this ramen place many times, the reman itself is beautiful. Except one feedback I would like to provide, there’s a trolley has come red cloths inside, looks like for cleaning use. Our toddler accidentally spilled the water on the table, my husband was trying to use one of the cloths to clean the table. Then he was educated like a kid about the cloth and said we could have asked them before using it. Would be nice if there’s a sign about the cloths if they are not allowed to be touched. Tried to communicate with the staff about the cloths can be confusing, don’t think she actively listened, instead just said just make sure next time don’t do that. The point is we are all adults and not students, also we just tried to help to tidy the mess. Think was an unpleasant feeling to be educated like a kid...
