Underwood Seafood Market — Restaurant in Logan City

My husband purchased fish from this establishment. When I opened fish at home It was covered in slime and the rotting smell was so strong it filled my house. Rinsing under water didn’t help.

I immediately phoned the business to discuss my situation. After multiple calls and messages left with people and on voicemail, the owner called back… 5 days later.

The owner explained that his employees are not employed to return phone calls or deal with customer complaints and that he had been on holiday. He seemed annoyed that I had called a number of times since my purchase to follow up.

This man spoke with attitude and was very derogatory to me. He said there was nothing he would or could do and stated that he checked the temperature of the fridge and the stock that arrived the day of purchase and everything was perfect… implying he did not believe me. He told me I would need to provide a sample of the fish that he could take back to his supplier and thereafter I might get a resolution. Meaning I would need to drive the 20km back to the shop, hand over the fish, drive another 20km back home and wait for an undefined period of time for an outcome. Did I mention that he was yelling at me by this stage of the phone call? All of this for $60 worth of seafood.

When I ended the call after no apology or resolution, I said I would be leaving a google review, he roared with laughter at this and hung up on me.

So this is my review…

Rotten fish. Expensive prices. Very poor customer service. I will never go near this business again and I would urge others to do the same. Go to the Fish Factory. It’s awesome, never...

Go here often for bait. Waste of time going for fish. Prices are to high and quality is poor. I suggest sunnybank fish shop just across from Hanaro Mart for high quality seafood. I have been to Underwood seafood 3 times and told that fish was fresh only to bring it home and find it stinky. Please understand that these times have been over a time frame of 15 years Today I asked the lady what was fresh I was told by the lady ( owner) that gold banded snapper fillets were fresh today $58:00 @ kg and they were fresh but also had alot of scales still stuck on the fillets. If you are paying top dollar for the fish it should also be top quality. This is a last stop shop if you are desperate for fish. If you can drive for 15 more minutes to Sunnybank then you will get a higher quality...

Yesterday I purchased a whole king fish and this mullet roe. But while we opened it, it was smelly. We tried to clean and process it but still stinks. So we called this shop this morning. We were told that we can replace it if we bring this back. We found it from the bin and brought it to shop.

The staff gave us another box of mullet roe which is bit heavier, and asked us pay extra. After we said we don’t wanna pay extra money today, he took several roe out and weighed lighter than what we paid yesterday. We accepted it coz we don’t wanna waste time anymore.

We’re not blaming the staff coz maybe he did the best he can do. But we still believe we deserve a better service. It was definitely not a good experience. We won’t go...
