Today we 3 family went to Aangan - Clayton Restaurant. Out experience was extremely bad from service to most important quality of food. Considering high price attached to Food, I will strongly suggest to avoid this restaurant in future.
We order Veg. Tikki, Mango Lassi, Veg Manchurian, Dal makhanni, Palak Kofta, Roti , Garlic Nan and Chees Garlic Nan.
Every single items were so bad. We could not even finish. See review comments below for each items.. 1 Tikki Chat. - It look like they just heated 2 Aloo Tikki , mix with canned chat and some cut onion with tamrind liquid. Absolutely no Taste at all like Indian Chat, but instead tamrind chatney taster. Go to Food truck 200 m away from this restaurant, in GKC, you get better chat in half of its price. 2 Mango Lassi - They service Mango lassi from plastic bottom which you get in any indian grocery shop for $2.5o, and charge you $6.50. They dont even bother to serve in proper glass.. they open that redy-mad plastic bottle in front of you like opening wine bottle.. 3 Veg Manchurian - There were no Veg in manchurian balls. It taste like italian knockyitalian dish - gnocchi... Only taste you get is half cooked floor balls, mixed with too much manchurian sauce.. 4 Dal makhanni - This taste like drinking dark brown cream sauce without Hardly any dal inside.. They missed hald portion of Black dal fromthis dish.. just sweat with lots of white cream taste. 5 Palak kofta - Tasteless palak puree mixed with two kofta ball. 6 Roti, Garlic Nan and Chees & Garlic nan. - All 3 bread , we asked well cooked and crispy. What they served is burnt bread all three.
I doubt , even after charging on such high price, they even cook dishes after we order. I think they serve already cooked dishes like Food court food. Another reason for remark is , they serve food in 2 min, after we place order. It was not even hot Food. We order food for almost $90 , which is quite expansive for these many items compared to normal indian restaurant.
We could not finish our food and left half way. When we made complaint at reception, to talk to manager, one gentleman at reception said , he is in-charge of restaurant and he was very cold in even listening my complaint and started saying sorry and wanted us to leave. He offered , he noted all details and pass it to management.. How can you pass complaint , if you dont even listen.
I doubt, who gave this restaurant 5-Star rating. I dont even give 1-start.
SO BAD EXPERIENCE. - AVOID THIS RESTAURANT - EVEN IF THEY...
Read moreWe planned a cherished program ( wedding anniversary) in Aangan Clayton. The venue was good and till the food served the customer experience was okay too. But starting from food serving, it was most humiliating experience we had. Their event hall was downstairs and kitchen was upstairs. They only had a casual employee sitting in the bar area, who doesn't have any idea or contact with kitchen or main counter. We fully paid the amount as they asked prior any food is served. Then when comes the time of food, they were very slow in filling the trays and mostly not filling the trays. There was NO ONE overseeing the serving, my 70 guests (including kids) were in line and immediately foods were finishing. Just an example, for such crowd they were serving Naan around 5-10 pcs merely 10% at a time. Same ratio for all other dishes... Every time guest would come to us asking to fillup or standing in line, but there was no one looking at food tray. We then had to run upstairs and asking to refill, they would then fill up on similar ratio and it continues till the last end.. During desserts serving time, they were bringing sweets or faluda in soup serve bowl, merely for 10 people serve. And then we needed again to go up and ask again. It was probably 10-12 times, me and my wife had to go up and request for giving food ontime or reasonable amount. There were insufficient plates to start, not enough spoon, fork. And simply they pretended they forgot the drinks.. we had to force them to remind it was within package. Last was the tea - which was supposed to be for all, people took a dispo cup each ( what they gave!) and still it was short for half of my guest..
There were initially no people collecting rubbish or dishes from table so after ontray, there were waste dishes in each table. We had to ask in the counter for this..
And when we were telling these to them, they were giving excuses, there were too crowd, sudden party upstairs etc.
But simply they neglected their customer and provided par below service with no resource at all.
Unfortunately I can't now make it up with my guest who are pretty dissatisfied and simply this is placing us ( me & my wife) in a severe distressing and shameful state.. And yet again, telling them repeatedly on the day, simply it didn't bothered them at all...
I dont think anyone of my community will ever organise a...
Read moreI have been to Aangan Footscray the original shop back in 2013 and was amazed by their flavoursome Punjabi Butter Chicken, the best I've had in Melbourne. Since then whenever I wanted to try I would drive all the way from eastern suburbs. Was happy seeing Aangan express in Hawthorn but for some reason woh feeling Nahi aa Rahi thi 😂🤣😂
And finally thanks to the Management for setting up this establishment in Clayton. Upon entering this place the warmth n feeling is amazing, I went around 10pm last Saturday and it felt I was in a banquet hall for an Indian wedding back in India, coz everything seemed too big for an Indian restaurant here in Melbourne whether it be crowd, menu, drink options, decor, music.....
We were a group of three ordered Chicken Malai tikka, Punjabi Butter Chicken, Balti Paneer, Butter Naans, coke and a cocktail 'SHARABI CHAI' 🍻🍻🍻
Yes we were hungry and service was fast too, looking at how busy that place was, our starters came withing 10 mins OMG the look of the charcoal chicken tikka pieces drooling in cheese looked mouthwatering. Initially I thought how wud cheese on chicken tikka taste as was expecting Malai/cream, but first bite in and this dish secured it's place as a memory and on my future orders, the flavours are too good and balanced and that cheese complimented everything on that plate.
Then came the main course and I think 6 years down the line I have again found the best butter chicken that too from the same brand 'Aangan'. The tanginess, spices, tenderness of chicken, smoky flavour, consistency of gravy, Not sweet as Punjabis like it, quantity for a portion size. And Balti Paneer complimented our taste palate too, taking it to another level, the recipe seems to have been reinvented and it tasted owseome. Both were tomato based gravies, vibrant red in colour yet tasted so different.
Name of cocktails are funny so tried SHARABI CHAI, it's basically long island tea but I won't be drinking cocktails from a house known to master it's food n curries 🙈🙈
It was a perfect dinner👌👌👌and I will surely be back. Thanks to Aangan team and to our very special Sumit Malhotra, the guy behind success of Aangan and spreading happiness since 2004, you are a really passionate foodie who loves to be in...
