You will guarantee wait for more than 40 mins of your life for a dine in order. Forget about take away. They have two front of house staff who frantically run around but have zero customer service experience. The kitchen is run with so much confusion and I could see wrong orders were sent to neighbouring tables. I then went up to the counter to place an order directly (after 10 mins) thinking it will expedite the process. I waited a further 40 mins to be then told that the items I chose were out of stock (couple of indo Chinese items, pani puri). I replaced the order (at which I should have honestly walked out) to wait another 30 mins. Yep. That's 1 hour+. The veg sandwich was stale, cheese not properly grated. Noodles were not cooked properl and we didn't even finish it. When I provided feedback to rhe counter, they got really defensive and no apologies, nothing...and when I asked about my sitaphal shake, they totally blanked out and forgot! I had to beg for a cancellation and refund and they insisted on making the shake as take away. It was icey and not properly blended using frozen fruit.
They also use a tonne of disposal plastics when restaurants should really start working towards more sustainable packaging and cutlery like the rest of the world. Small plastic sauce sachets accompany which are a struggle to open.
I really had a lot of hopes for the restaurant and was excited for the concept of a vegetarian fast food restaurant but man did they disappoint! I've been there atleast a 5 times to give them a chance thinking it's just teething issues opening a new restaurant but nope, it's been a few months as my friends and I have realised it's just poor management and the latest experience has ensured I never return.
Turns out one of the owners work full time elsewhere and this is his side hustle.... Looks like too stingy (living up to the Gujju stereotype) to hire more staff and want to run this barebones. A restaurant isn't a joke but this place has turned out to be. You're better off watching the recipes online and...

If you’re craving real Indian street food that’s full of flavour, heart, and nostalgia – Jay Bhavani Clayton is the place to be! From the moment we walked in, we were impressed by the clean, vibrant setting and the welcoming staff who made us feel right at home.
We tried a variety of dishes, and honestly, every single one was a winner.
The Vada Pav was exactly how it should be – spicy, crispy, buttery, and packed with flavour. It instantly reminded us of the street-side stalls in Mumbai.
Bhel Puri and Dahi Puri were beautifully fresh, tangy, and perfectly balanced – the chutneys were spot on, and each bite was an explosion of taste and crunch.
The Mixed Veg Uttapam was soft, fluffy, and loaded with fresh veggies – served with flavorful chutneys and piping hot sambar. Comfort food at its best!
We also loved the Pulav with Raita – light, aromatic, and so satisfying. The raita added the perfect cooling contrast.
The surprise favourite? The Katka Dabeli – spicy, sweet, nutty, and oh-so-delicious. It’s a flavour bomb you just can’t miss!
And to top it all off, the Chole Puri was divine – rich, spicy chole paired with soft, puffed puris that were just perfect. A complete meal that left us full and happy.
The service was fast and friendly, the vibe was lively, and the prices were very reasonable for the quality and portion sizes.
This place is now our go-to for Indian street food in Melbourne. Whether you’re dining in or grabbing takeaway, Jay Bhavani Clayton delivers every time.
💯 Highly recommend to anyone who loves authentic, vegetarian Indian food. You’ll leave with a full heart and an even...
Read moreI won't be suggesting this place to anyone - Worst Customer Service
It began with the worst customer service experience. We waited for 10 minutes to receive a menu card at our table. Despite only two girls serving at the front, the thin lady, who noticed us waiting, displayed an ignorant attitude, opting to chat at the counter instead of providing us with a menu. They utilize a writing system where you jot down your order on a piece of paper, and they collect it from your table. After writing and informing her that she could take our order, she finally came to our table after another 10 minutes and retrieved the paper. The order arrived after an additional 25 minutes.
While enjoying the food, we discovered that the bread pakora was uncooked. We waited for another 10 minutes to inform them, but the staff seemed busy with casual conversations rather than attending to customers. After everything unfolded, the girl asked if we wanted another pakora, to which we declined. However, we were later charged for it.
The audacious girl insisted that we had consumed most of it, without acknowledging that it was uncooked. (I agree that we each had a bite; one was taken by me, and another by my husband. However, she has the audacity to claim that we had most of it.) We had requested the cancellation of the uncooked pakora, but no one informed us that a refund wouldn't be possible. The lady at the counter asserted that we had consumed most of it.
A reminder to the management: You are in Melbourne, not some random place in Ahmedabad. Provide good service with quality food. The staff's ignorant behavior can have significant...
