I had dinner with my family (4 people) at this gem of a restaurant on Saturday evening and could not express how pleasurable the experience was . Firstly, the restaurant presented really well with Japenese vibes and intricacies which set the tone really well to the night. Ordering food was very simple on an Ipad..which had photos to make it easier to choose from if you aren't familiar with certain dishes ( plenty of dishes to choose from). The food came out quickly with a busy restaurant whilst they managed online orders. The food looked amazing and was delicious ( a few Instagram photostaken). The highlight was the sushi platter which was very fresh, authentic, delicious and plentiful....but most of all highly affordable!!
The staff were amazing and worked well to serve in-house and on-line patrons with their meals in a timely manner whilst upholding the quality and integrity of their food.
Ajisai, is was massive a win and as a local can't believe I hadn't been there sooner. If you live in the Bayside area and are looking for great Japanese food, great service, a great venue and reasonable prices, then I highly recommend you try this restaurant you won't be...
Read moreI cannot begin to tell you how awful this place calling itself a restaurant is! if I have a disappointing experience at an eatery I usually just write it off and make a mental note to not visit again, however, my experience at Ajisai was the most dreadful experience I've ever had. Never have I not been able to eat a plate of food because it was inedible but at Ajisai this is what happened! No good complaining to the waitress as she didn't speak English! The service was non existent due to the fact that patrons sitting in the restaurant itself didn't matter - only a long line of delivery drivers waiting to pick up deliveries that were not coming out of the kitchen quick enough or the orders were wrong, mattered. It was total chaos! I really resent spending hard earned money on inedible food. The guy at the register offered us a refund on the pork curry dish as it came out without the curry sauce! He gave us a $10 note out of the register - for the curry sauce that was not there!!! If I could give this place minus...

The food took a really long time to come out and nearly all of it was inedible. Each dish seemed like it had been heated, not cooked fresh.
I ordered a Katsu chicken curry- the curry tasted like it was mostly gelatine with a bit of spice, and came with a burnt, cut up crumbed chicken breast on the side. Both tasted like it had been prepared from a box.
My partner had ramen which was a joke, with spaghetti served instead of ramen noodles and a very inauthentic taste. We also ordered gyoza to share which again, tasted like it was from a box in the freezer.
As other reviews have said, the plating is impractical, plastic cutlery is given, long wait times and it's very expensive for what you receive.
We both agreed that this is the worst 'Japanese' we've ever had. The only positive aspect was that the lady who served us was very nice, it's just unfortunate for her to work...
