Alleyway Kitchen M-City | 小巷 — Restaurant in Melbourne

I recently visited as an overseas visitor with professional background the restaurant located in M City, as part of the food court and unfortunately, it fell short of my expectations. The service I received was subpar, which made my overall experience disappointing. Despite asking for a stainless steel fork due to my allergy, with the wooden forks, I was bluntly told to bring my own, which seemed like a careless and dismissive gesture.

The food did not live up to the standards I've come to expect either. We ordered a straightforward dish of plain rice with black bean sauce and chicken, but the chicken was tough and overcooked. What's even more concerning is that the staff seemed to find my request for a specific type of fork amusing, and chose to communicate with each other in their native language, ignoring my presence. I felt belittled and disrespected.

I strongly believe that excellent service is about understanding and catering to customers' needs, not dismissing their requests with a laugh. As a paying customer, I expect to be treated with respect and courtesy, regardless of cultural background or linguistic barriers. Unfortunately, my experience at this restaurant fell short of that standard.

Located inside m city as part of the food court downstairs. Pleasant sitting area.

$14.80 for the large meal which came with rice and your choice of 3 dishes. I chose sweet and sour pork, honey chicken and spicy fried chicken. The portions were enormous and you will definately feel more than full by the end of the meal. Average overall as possibly being sitting out for a while. If they came out fresh probably would have been nicer as the flavours were ok.

I’ve been a regular here because of their value-for-money portions, but today was a huge letdown. Prices have gone up (which I can accept) but the portion I received was significantly smaller than what I usually get. I raised my concerns politely, but was met with excuses and denial.
