I had a very bad experience tonight. I was really looking forward to dining at Anchovy for weeks. I had a reservation at 9.15pm and to my confusion I saw the google restaurant information indicated that the restaurant closes at 9pm. I tried to call them and left a message as well on the voicemail as I wanted to clarify their opening hours before heading down to the restaurant. By the time I received a call from the restaurant, it would have been too late to head down with 5 minutes left before kitchen closes. The lady on the phone was extremely aggressive and was not interested in finding a resolution. She insisted that a no show fee of 200+ will be charged if i dont appear within 5 minutes. It was not my intention to miss the reservation. When she called, she said my reservation was for 9pm which was incorrect. She said i did not call them which was not true (i called using my hotel line). She said there is no information online stating that the restaurant is closed at 9pm (this is incorrect - see google printscreen) and that they have kept a table for us. She said their number is not available on google (it is on the reservation page). Finally, there was no way i could contact them on email or leaving a message on their website without an Australian number. I tried to call them multiple times but there...
Read moreIf there was a six or seven stars, Anchovy would hit them. Easy. With The at the helm in the kitchen, and Andy and JY on the floor this small Boheme restaurant in Richmond is a true delight. Or the pleasant-induced grin from a roti-like sesame bun with an anchovy butter. There's a Murray cod fish lightly grilled with an Indian inspired paste, served with iceberg lettuce, fresh herbs, a pickled Daikon, hot Brinjal-like pickles and a sweetish dipping sauce. Absolutely worth a visit. I forgot to mention the sweet dish. It's in the photos. You end up lying to your friend so you can get...
Read moreThe food was interesting although a touch expensive for what was offered. The Moreton Bay bug special was nice enough but at forty something dollars I felt it was quite expensive for one bug.
Their zucchini was so delish and was a great starter as it’s a bit sour and get your appetite going. The pipis were amazing too! They are so fresh!
We ordered cod for mains and a herb garden as a side salad. Cod was cooked w turmeric, garlic, corn and spring onion. The cod was a bit tough, but the flavours were amazing!!! The “herb garden” was fabulous though and goes so well with the fish flavours. So it was such a bit that the cod itself was a bit of a letdown.
Dessert was this durian and white chocolate parfait which was surprisingly light, a perfect finish...
