I haven’t been to the spready for a while. The service is excellent, friendly and efficient. We ordered some potato cakes and some which were crispy and hot. The rice wine vinegar was a treat. The gin and sofa was good and my passion fruit sour was a serious lip smacker hahaha whoa!! The crowd is friendly and this place is definitely worth a visit if your in the area. November 2016 I went here tonight w my friend after walking past this pub a thousand times. Why?? Hahahaha We've been missing out! The service here was spot on! The beer and wine perfect and the food amazing, it really felt like fine dining without the pretence or the price tag. We both tried different steaks, mine was grass fed 400g man size, and it was cooked to perfection. My friend also tried a 300g steak and it was equally as good. The potato mash was ok, but the salads were fresh and tasty. We have discovered another amazing foodie place in Richmond yahoooo hahaha Def worth a visit! :)

the spready is one of the better local pubs in richmond. good drinks, food, and atmosphere, with multiple dining areas depending on your vibe. service is always extremely friendly here but a little slower sometimes with lesser staff and plenty of customers. we enjoyed our food, cant go wrong with a $20 parma with some of the freshest and hottest chips! i was however absolutely gobsmacked to see the market fish for the day priced at $46 plus +10% sunday surcharge. I was put in an awkward position being a vegetarian seeking a healthier option for dinner and was pretty much left to pay $50 for my meal, which was yes delicous but pretty tiny for the price point. with a drink i paid $70 and while i enjoyed my experience and watching the womens world cup final, i couldnt help but walk out feeling robbed. also food service stops at 9:30pm p.s, we were sad we didnt catch dessert! thanks spread eagle ((:

We tried the special beef Wellington with a swap of mash potato. I don't think I've ever seen suck a beautifully made parcel! The meat inside was tender, full of flavour, complimenting the mushrooms and chestnuts all wrapped is Prosciutto. The pastry was crispy flaky and yum. To top the fish off it came with a rich intense jus. The mash was creamy and buttery and again just yum!! I had the porterhouse medium rare and perfectly cooked! The cut was perfectly cooked with the delightful mash. I also had the sticky date pudding, a little small but the sauce was amazing. The pub is really like a restaurant, the service was amazing and the venue flash and stylish. We loved it

The Spread Eagle Hotel (“the Spready”) is a classic Richmond pub that gets everything right — great food, friendly service, and an atmosphere that makes you want to linger long after your meal. It’s the perfect mix of old-school pub charm with a modern touch, making it a go-to spot whether you’re after a casual drink, a hearty meal, or a night out with friends.

The pub classics here are spot on. The parma is one of the best in the area — crisp crumb, rich Napoli sauce, plenty of cheese, and served with golden chips. Steaks are cooked exactly how you want them, the burgers are generous and flavourful, and the fish and chips are consistently excellent. Portion sizes are big, the quality is reliable, and the menu has plenty of variety without losing its “proper pub” feel.

The drinks list is extensive and well priced, with a great mix of tap beers, wines, and cocktails. It’s exactly what you’d want in a pub — plenty of choice, quick service, and consistently cold, fresh pours.

The atmosphere is lively and welcoming. Inside, you’ve got a spacious, comfortable dining area with plenty of character, while the bar has a buzzing, friendly vibe that’s perfect for watching the footy or catching up with mates. The outdoor area is another highlight, especially in warmer weather, giving the whole venue a relaxed, easygoing feel.

The staff make a big difference here too. They’re attentive, approachable, and keep everything moving smoothly even when it’s packed. You always feel looked after, which adds to the sense of ease and enjoyment.

What I love about the Spready is the consistency — every visit delivers the same great food, the same welcoming vibe, and the same friendly service. It’s the kind of pub that quickly becomes a regular for locals and a must-visit for anyone passing through.

For anyone in Richmond looking for a proper pub with excellent food, great drinks, and a warm atmosphere, the Spread Eagle Hotel is...

I recently visited the Spread-eagle pub and was pleasantly surprised by its unique and authentic feel. In a world where many pubs have lost their charm, the Spready manages to capture the essence of a real pub. The mix of original and contemporary fitout adds to its character, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that immediately puts you at ease.

The staff were a standout feature of the Spready - they were not only competent but also had a great sense of humor, making the experience all the more enjoyable. They were knowledgeable about the menu and happy to offer recommendations, which made deciding what to order a breeze.

Speaking of the menu, I found it to be a great mix of pub classics and modern cuisine, with the occasional culinary twist thrown in for good measure. I particularly enjoyed the pub classics, which were prepared with care and attention to detail. The portions were generous, and the flavors were well-balanced, making for a satisfying meal.

Overall, I would highly recommend the Spready to anyone looking for an authentic pub experience. The combination of its unique atmosphere, friendly staff, and delicious food make it a must-visit destination. Whether you're looking to catch up with friends over a pint or enjoy a hearty meal, the Spready has got...
