Mister Minh — Restaurant in Melbourne

Been a customer for many years, but now I won't be going back. Came the other day to get a pick up order (one dish, a soup). The system said 15 minute wait time. I asked the older man at the front (possibly the owner, I'm not sure) repeatedly if he could check if my order was coming as I thought there must be a problem (they kept bringing uber eats bags out for drivers who kept coming and going).

He said to me "Kitchen very busy" and just walked off, didn't even bother to go check on my order. After an HOUR of waiting at the front of the shop, I went and checked one of the uber eats bags that was waiting at the front for pick up and that order has been processed 40 minutes after mine and was already ready. I spoke to a different man this time and told him there must be something wrong. I was sent to the back of the restaurant to speak to a lady there. She was very kind and apologetic as they'd obviously had a mix up and my order was never coming. So they made it for me then. Just a sorry, no offer of a remedy or anything.

I understand that restaurants get busy and mistakes happen, but when a customer asks repeatedly if you can check if your order is coming, the least you can do is actually go check the ticket. The food was good but the service was just shocking. The man at the front certainly shouldn't be working in hospitality or should undertake some customer service training.

I visited Mister Minh this evening with my colleagues, and while the food and ambiance were decent, our experience was completely ruined by the shocking behavior of one of the waiters, named Tom. As someone who manages in the hospitality industry, I know the value of good service, and what we encountered here was absolutely unacceptable.

When I politely requested a takeaway container, Tom gave me a disgusted look, like I was bothering him, and he practically ignored me. The attitude was condescending and completely uncalled for. To make matters worse, we ordered a roti bread, but it never made it to our table. We waited and waited, and there was no apology or acknowledgment of the mistake.

This kind of treatment is beyond unprofessional, and it’s clear that the staff here are either poorly trained or simply don’t care about customer service. Mister Minh might have potential, but with staff like Tom, it’s going to drive customers away. I strongly advise management to invest in proper training and attitude adjustment for their staff before it’s too late. We left feeling disrespected and disappointed, definitely won’t be coming back unless things change...

Staff were lovely and very attentive

Boys ordered dishes to share. Chicken spring rolls a hit only we had to request additional mint/lettuce leaves as only 2 presented on a serving of 8 rolls. Prawn rolls just as popular

Boys very disappointed no famous Banh Mi available at dinner time. Made do with pork buns instead, ordered a few each - devoured

Peking duck the boys favourite. Crispy skin yet juicy. Great portion size

Mums loved the duck salad - again great serving

Surprisingly crispy pork was not the dish of the day. Usually can’t go wrong with table of boys

Lemongrass grilled chicken needed to have crispy grill charcoal marks for flavour & texture.

Salt & pepper squid was missed so had to follow up on the dish. The calamari was a tad too large so soft & soggy rather than crispy meaning it also smelt too fishy for the boys

Venue busy after 8pm and many happy birthdays sung, so clearly a popular location for group birthdays

Definitely be back for a banh mi and bowl of pho...
