1.5 stars ⭐️ I now understand why this place is so quiet compared to Patch and I am so sorry I didn’t wait for a table at Patch. We went into Bendigo Milk Bar and was ignored for a littlewhile even though the place was quite empty, whereas Patch was bustling but yet 3 staff tried to find us a table. I am kicking myself. My non-fussy parents ordered latte, which they said was barely passable (this is for Queensland standard...). I ordered eggs on toasts w a couple of sides for the kids, the sides were all $4 each, and when it came, it had maybe 4 slices of of thinly sliced avocado (for $4!), 2 mushroom (for $4!!!) and a handful of spinach... spinach I get, a bunch cooked becomes a tiny handful. But TWO MUSHROOMS FOR FOUR DOLLARS? You must be friggin kidding me. My chilli scramble tasted absolutely woeful, and my side of “housemade” hash brown (which looks like the one fromMaccas but taste 50 times worse, and YES, 4 effing dollars! 💵) tasted oily and disgusting. My mother’s breakfast burrito was so soggy it didn’t hold up as a burrito, and the basket it comes in was rusty.

Bendigo Street Milk Bar transitions to the perfect Italian restaurant Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights from 6pm and it should be on everyone's list! The ambience and setting is perfect by candlelight with seating inside, outside and courtyard available. Small menu that covers the main Italian staples and these guys nail every single one of them. Well balanced flavours, good portions, high quality ingredients and it just works perfectly. Service is super friendly and quick and they have a small but well rounded drinks menu too. Good for a date night, family's and all. We will definitely be back and get in quick before this place is discovered and you'll be booking well in advance

I find it difficult to believe this has ANY genuine reviews which are positive.

I live around the corner and have been here only 8 times. EVERY time I have been, the service is terrible.

Either the staff are rude, or they ignore you, or the food takes forever to come out, or all three.

There are so many other cafes in this local area which have great food AND great service! It is not acceptable for this low standard.

However, i get invited back by friends or family who want to to "try it out". "It looks nice" they say. So, with hope, I return - always to be disappointed, and so are they.

This happened again on a weekend recently. We arrived at about 1.15pm, there were barely any customers. Not encouraging for a cafe in Melbourne on a weekend at this time of the day. We ordered two pies with Salad and muesli and three coffees.

The coffees came quickly and were made well.

At about 2pm (45mins later) we enquired on the food. We were starving, and had an appointment to go to at 2pm which we were now late for. They were not busy, as mentioned earlier, and this food doesn't require any preparation.

The food was on our table within 3mins of asking with an insincere apology.

The pies WERE amazing. Very tasty. I give them that.

When we went to pay, one of our party said to the cashier that we're disappointed about what happened and to be frank - writing off our coffee's would have been the least you could do.

The response was comical. What you would expect in an exaggerated "how you should never behave in customer service". The barista rushed over with her hands on her hips and aggressively said "mistakes happen. We got it out to you as soon as you asked for it". Tsk Tsk. The aggressive defence went on for a while "It wasn't our fault, the register lost your order" etc. Of course, the manager had "popped out".

We were charged for the coffees and I left with the obligation to save you, my fellow Richmondites, the same fate as I.

Go elsewhere and save yourself the grief. I will certainly never return for a 9th visit.

To Bendigo Street Cafe - you should seriously consider re-training your staff on Customer Service standards. Go around to the neighbouring cafe's and see how they do it, you will only...

I have been here a couple of times as the guy at the front makes good coffee however I recently ordered a chicken wrap and noticed the chicken tasted old and it was mostly full of spinach with barely any meat. Definitely not worth $16. I felt off the rest of the day and had some stomach issues. The next week I went in I asked if anyone else had mentioned being sick off the chicken last week? The owner, an elderly lady was extremely rude and abrasive to me. I have seen her before in the cafe and heard how she speaks to her employees, not a nice woman at all. tldr: the owner is horrible and the food is overpriced whilst they try to stretch it to last as long as possible at the cost of quality.

There's a hundred cafes in Richmond so I doubt this one will last as people take their business elsewhere.

Edit: as a reply to the owner who left a nasty message: I think you have me confused with someone else? I have never applied for a job with you nor has anyone I know, I'm a Dr that works at PMCC you can call and check if you'd like I use my real name on my reviews. Nevertheless I think her reply serves as more proof she is another...
