As a self-proclaimed biggest fan of Serotonin Eatery, I am finally going to give a review to my FAVOURITE cafe in the whole of Melbourne and I would consider that a big statement as I have probably visited more than 50 cafes in Melbourne and no cafe has been able to win me over like Serotonin has and to prove my loyalty, I have gone to Serotonin EVERY WEDNESDAY! FOOD & DRINKS: Alright, I’m guilty for being one of those people who never changes their order but to all my peanut butter lovers or if you’re me, OBSESSORS, I’d recommend with all my heart and soul the ‘Notorious A.C.A.I’. Ever since I discovered that dish existed, I have been back at Serotonin every single Wednesday before my class. You’d think ordering the same thing every single Wednesday would make it boring but for some reason, that dish at Serotonin has never made me bored and I go back every single week without failure. The banana nice cream and acai go together so beautifully somehow giving you a perfect sweet and sour flavour. The peanut butter (which I always ask for extra because I can never get enough of peanut butter hehe) is so amazing and I SWEAR BY the amazing combination of peanut butter and banana and for $3.50, the granola is going to be the best decision you’re going to make. The magnum they give is the perfect beginning treating and the Not-Ella slice they give is the perfect ending treat. You’d have to try the dish to understand how AMAZING it is and I feel my review is truly underplaying the magnificence of it and Serotonin’s motto is to serve amazing food not just in taste and flavour but they also stand by not giving you processed food and they provide the freshest and healthiest ingredients to make even the most sinful tasting of food be so healthy. I’ve tried other dishes like their Galaxy Acai which was great but I’m a peanut butter lover so nuttin’ is ever gonna pull me away from my Notorious A.C.A.I. ! Their savoury dishes are amazing as well and their Positive Pancakes are great for banana lovers and the portion is CRAZY and so worth the value! I haven’t tried their drinks before which I’d hopefully be able to! SERVICE: Their service is so commendable! I don’t know if it’s because I visit every single week or because they truly want to make every customer feel special but props to my favourite waitress with the puma shoes and braid for not only knowing me, my name but also MY ORDER! Every single other server is absolutely lovely as well, always super polite, serving with a smile and to the super sweet male waiter who takes the time to socialize with customers, thank you for always being so friendly! AMBIENCE: I cannot explain what it is about Serotonin but you’d have to enter to truly feel the magical atmosphere of it! Not only is it aesthetically pleasing, it is so comfortable, perfect for meetups or catch ups! Also, for us students, they have FREE WIFI which honestly is pretty surprising as not many cafes provide free wifi but Serotonin has done the honour of giving us free wifi! From the happy sign to the beautiful mural, Serotonin is breathtaking and also, fun fact, they have SWING SEATS. I personally love the regular seats because I love going before classes just to have a good study session but the swing seats are just so adorable. I’ve said before and I stand by that Serotonin call themselves Serotonin Eatery for a reason and it’s that they give you the happy feeling from their food to their service. Mondays and Tuesdays are truly down days as they are closed and I’d love to begin my week with them if I could but hey, all good things must be made with love. I haven’t been able to have any cafe impress me and have my loyalty as much as Serotonin has and I am proud to be a loyal customer and I probably will be till the end and I hope with all my heart they never take off their notorious A.C.A.I ! Thank you, Serotonin for providing the best of best of absolutely everything! ❤️

We ordered a few dishes from the new summer menu: 🍕 Plant Proof Pizza⠀ I’ve always had my pizzas loaded with cheese and tomatoes topped with meat. I would never imagine myself eating a pizza like this! But even though it was not the typical pizza I’d eat, it’s seriously delicious! I’m just wondering where all these amazing flavours were coming from! Definitely a must have! 🌮 Tropical Tacos⠀ These tacos were definitely different from the usual tacos I’m used to having. It had mango, red cabbage, tomato salsa, lettuce and chickpeas! Was a little skeptical having fruits in a taco but this was seriously so refreshing! 🥞 Positive Pancakes with added Maple Syrup⠀ These pancakes were on their original menu but has always been a really popular item. It is made from house-made organic banana flour with no added sugar! But we cheated a little by requesting for maple syrup to do a pour shot 😅 But seriously, the natural sweetness from the fruits are amazing! 🥙 Endorphin Bowl⠀ Never thought I’d eat a vegetable bowl. I had bad experiences before, but this bowl was delicious! The secret tahini dressing definitely tied the whole dish together. We finished everything without a drop leftover! ⠀ 🥭 Wellness Smoothie⠀ I was gonna get the Banana Heaven Smoothie because all the other smoothies seem to be super healthy and have some sort of green vegetables in them. However, the waiter told me that the Wellness Smoothie was really good and did not have the spinach taste even thought there was spinach inside. I took him for his word, and true enough, I could not taste an ounce of spinach inside, tasted like a refreshing mango smoothie, and was green! Absolutely loved it! The service was so good. The staff were all wearing smiles on their faces. When I asked for recommendations, the waiter sat down beside me and we had a conversation like we were friends. We arrived a little late so by the time we were eating they were about to close up the store. But they let us stay for another 30 mins and they did not rush us at all. Instead they moved us into a different area with our food because they needed to clean up the area we were sitting in previously. I would love to go back there again!

Alright, I hope management takes this as a wake up call. This placed used to be so chic and lively, buzzing with people - I don’t know what happened since new management took over. Now it’s dull, flat and dead when you walk into the cafe. The handover period was also very poorly done, cafe closed for a long time without notice, nothing stated on the website, no phone number to contact to check what’s going on, and when it finally reopened with new management, the staff were cagey about the whole thing and initially did not even want to admit there’s now a new owner. In short: 1) food has become quite underwhelming, the balance of flavour is off, the presentation is poor 2) service is also underwhelming, staff are slow and not very attentive, the entire premise is not kept clean (see picture of stains on the wall shown) and there was a pungent smell from the table coming from old dirty cloths used to wipe the table. 3) half of the menu is always “sold out” - seriously if you can’t make the food they used to offer, just remove it from the menu! Soup of the day - not available, special of the week - not available… why keep it there? The only thing that’s still consistently good is the muffins - that’s what we’ll be coming back for and probably the only thing we’ll be coming back for unless there’s major improvements. (Even these aren’t even updated accurately on the website/ordering menu - eg it says “Passionfruit” while the actual flavour is “Pistatio”) especially frustrating when there’s no way to check - no phone number to contact… Pick up the game guys - or you’ll really struggle in this competitive industry in Melbourne!

So I found this cafe through TikTok and thought to take my partner and my friend with me for a nice breakfast date. yesterday we went to this cafe for breakfast and firstly we had to wait 10-20 minutes near the entrance door to be served then finally someone came to serve us and give us a table, after that they didn’t even bring us a menu or let us know to scan the QR code on the table which we weren’t aware of, we waited for a while until we noticed that there was a QR code on the table so after we scanned the QR code there wasn’t many option on the menu so we decided to make our own breakfast option and my partner went to make an order in the front desk and they told my partner that they ran out of toast like what in the world how can a cafe ran out of toast🤦♀️ I was so annoyed and my partner asked for plain pancake on the side with 2serve of scrambled egg and 1serve of poached egg for 3 of us, after almost one hour they served our food but it was the wrong order they served us a one serve of mainly pancake dish even tho we said 3 serve of plain pancake on the side of eggs since they ran out of toast, but they said that that’s how we ordered so then we were like it’s okay we will just take that and the pancake was melting too, then they served us with one dish with poached egg and another with fried egg even though we asked for 2 scrambled and one poached egg🤦♀️ so we end up not eating anything as everything was cold and didn’t even taste good and left the cafe, the whole thing was so messed up I definitely not recommend this cafe for anyone, save your money and go to a better cafe with a better service

Brunch diaries @serotonindealer where their 100% plant based menu is all about nourishment, mindfulness, health and wellness besides great taste, quality and variety. We loved each and every item we had here today, from the drinks to the mains to the desserts. We started off with a macadamia and matcha latte, and an Immune Elixir mocktail. Both were equally refreshing to drink, except the elixir drink that was quite spicy for our taste. Next we had, Nutrition Bomb and Positive Pancakes. The Nutrition bomb was absolutely fresh, super healthy and flavourful. It is strongly recommended. And so are the positive pancakes, which is a very filling, delicious and addictive dish made of banana and berries. Both the dishes quantities are more than generous. Also we had, a conscious cookie and a sweet potato and peanut butter brownie. Both were equally interesting, very tasty to eat. I can definitely have these desserts everyday as these didn’t make me feel guilty at all. Loved how all the ingredients and the sweetness is so perfectly balanced in these desserts. The ambiance is so peaceful and the service is super prompt by a team of cheerful, kind and helpful team of staff. So guys why not make a reservation for tomorrow @serotonindealer for a much needed and a yummy dose of serotonin with friends and family.

Serotonin, also known as the happy chemical is a chemical that acts as a mood stabiliser. Befitting it's name, dining at Serotonin Eatery will leave you satisfied, contented and most importantly, well nourished. The menu is simple, yet full of flavoursome carefully thought-out fares that will tickle anyone's fancy. Favourites like Positive Pancakes or Deconstructed Sushi have been on the menu for a long time and still manage to impress the most discerning taste buds. Bursting with clean flavours and an array of the rainbow colours, these plantbased creations aren't only beautiful to the eyes or camera. They will wow you inside out. Dr Mark Hyman said "The most powerful medicine is at the end of your fork, not at the bottom of your pill bottle. Food is more powerful than anything in your medicine cabinet." Serotonin Eatery epitomises this through and through! Service is friendly, staff full of smiles and always eager to please. Be warned, this place is usually busy. Book ahead and be game enough to request swings seats when there are only 2 of you. Perfectly located within steps of the Burnley train station, with ample free parking nearby, there are no reasons to miss this awesome place. It will bring you happiness. You can thank me later. Highly recommended!
