I know my Indian food inside out. Tonight was how the ‘burbs’ can pull off great Indian food and we should all check our ‘expectations’ of where and how food Indian food can be in the suburbs - at the door. The lovely Ekam greeted and made us very welcome. The menu is extensive and if this platform allows it, I will include all the pages of the menu. It’s long and extensive, with plenty for the vegetarian. We had the oh so traditional chicken tikka, with lamb korma, aloo paratha, rice and raita. But first came the papadams with a trio of condiments that set the scene for the next courses. This part of the meal is ‘on the house’. Portion sizes were good and served at reasonable intervals. Wine list excellent with Pepperjack Shiraz a nice addition to the reds section. Full bar available. Wheelchair friendly. High chairs available. Large restaurant that could easily cater for functions over 100. A must...
Read moreFirstly staff and service was great, they were attentive and polite.
Entree was average, we had Tandoori Stuffed Mushrooms and Tandoori Lamb Cutlets that were lacking in taste. Possibly more tandoori flavour or marinating time would have livened up the dishes.
As for our main meals, we selected Lamb Rogan Josh and Chicken Saag and the flavors were disappointing. We can't decide whether it was too much pepper in the Lamb Rogan Josh or there was something else that was upsetting the balance.
Now to the Chicken Saag, sadly it was inedible because of the unpleasant taste.
Naan and rice was nice.
At the end of our meal the staff did not ask us for feedback on our dining experience, this may have been because they could see we left a substantial amount of food.
We understand the impact and restrictions Covid has caused on business and hope once life returns to normal or next visit will be...
Read moreSitting in my car after having just finished my meal at The Spice Yard, I really want to express how satisfying it was. For entree I had the chicken tikka and it was so juicy and succulent. The mango lassi had the right thickness considency (not too thick like most others I've had in the past). It was made fresh by Malika who was the wonderful young waitress serving me tonight. She was very nice, friendly and professional. For the main, I had the Spice Yard lamb curry and it was very tender and succulent. The portion was very generous. The experience i had tonight met and exceeded my expectations and I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for an excellent Indian...
