Would love to give a zero but as my options are as limited as Black Gold It'll suffice. Went into a busy breakfast environment and was more than happy to leave and find another cafe but were promised a table in 10 minutes. Returned after that time to be told again that there would be yet another 10 minute waitin period. Went for a walk, came back after 15 minutes right behind another couple who walked up to a recently vacated table and claimed it. After being ignored for several minutes awkwardly waiting inside for at least a response we were finally greater by the same staff member who informed us that "they're not sure what happened". Not good enough! After waiting 30 minutes to not be seated, fed, greated, or given any respect as patrons we'd had enough. I usually don't give bad reviews, I just won't return to the place of business where either the product or service did not deliver. However, I will make an except for Black Gold, absolutely deplorable! I have worked in the hospitality and catering industry before and never have I felt so disregarded and condescended by a business. Do not lie to your customers, do not treat them as if they are dumb or you will treated in the same fashion. I hope you read and reflect off this, I want your business to do well! Please...

In this squishy space off the main strip lies a local gem to enjoy good quality Sunday brunch. We made our selections from the small but varied menu and started eyeballing all the temptations coming out from the kitchen.

My Acai Pancakes were beautifully framed with an array of fruits and flowers. The texture was more bread than pancake (is it meant to be like that?) but it was still delicious, complemented by the whipped ricotta and toasted coconut. My friends loved their Chilli Crab Scramble and Green Fritters, with artful use of spices and ingredients to create taste and flavour.

Friendly service buoyed by the server and one of our friends both originating from Hamburg, the offerings here deserve their high ratings. There are too many tables and chairs for the real estate available, making the high density quite uncomfortable. This was exacerbated when the group beside us tried to squeeze 6 people in a spot that's ...

ORDERED: 🥪  Chicken toastie: free range chicken breast, avocado, fried egg, chilli mayo ($15.50) + cheese ($1.50) 🥪  Reuben: smoked brisket pastrami, mozzarella, sauerkraut, american mustard, russian dressing ($16.00) It was <$20.00pp which included a latte for two. REVIEW: 💖  MUST get the reuben toastie. It had an amazing crispy top that was savoury and the best amalgamation of meat : cheese : "salad" ratio. The golden ratio that didn't guilt trip you into feeling like you needed to go on a 1km run after to work off the carbs. The smoked brisket pastrami was perfect - rich, smoky and slightly spicy. BIG love from me. ❌  The not so enjoyable was the chicken cheese toastie. Compared to the reuben toastie, I really felt the lack of vegetables. This toastie made me consider walking around the block 10x in order to justify the feed of cheese & chicken. 🤧 ✔️  Service was so friendly! Served by a brunette waitress, she was all smiles and good vibes. Definitely felt comfortable here, even though the tables were a little cramped inside.

A busy cafe serving some great toasties and coffee. My strong almond latte was perfect. There was some good milk froth, the coffee had a great flavour and I really enjoyed it. My chicken toastie was free range chicken breast, avocado, fried egg and chilli mayo. OMGosh this was amaaazing! The sourdough toast was delicious, there was a generous serving of chicken breast, the avo and the mayo was yummy w a good hit of spice, and its one of the best toasties I've had in, well, far too long! Lol. And the Caprese vegetarian toastie was equally as good. This had fresh mozarella, tomato and basil pesto. One again the toastie was perfectly cooked, the sourdough was soo tasty, the pesto yummy and everything tasted so good!! This is my new favourite cafe and its not surprising that this cafe was doing a roaring trade when I was there. Just off Swan St, this cafe is a must visit.
