The London Tavern Hotel is hands down one of the best pubs in Richmond, and it’s easy to see why it’s such a local favourite. From the moment you walk in, there’s a great buzz — the kind of welcoming, relaxed atmosphere that makes you want to settle in and stay awhile.

The beer garden is a real standout — spacious, beautifully set up, and perfect for everything from casual after-work drinks to bigger gatherings with friends. It has that rare mix of being lively without feeling overcrowded, and it’s just as enjoyable in summer as it is in the cooler months.

The staff are fantastic: friendly, down-to-earth, and always quick to serve with a smile. They really add to the whole experience, whether you’re a regular or popping in for the first time.

The drinks list is exactly what you’d want — plenty of beers on tap, including great local options, as well as a good selection of wines and spirits. The food is excellent too, with hearty, tasty pub classics done really well. Portion sizes are generous, and everything comes out fresh and quick.

This place has a lot of potential but is unfortunately let down by the food. Character and atmosphere is exactly what you want for a pub. It’s clearly a local fav given the decent crowd on a Friday night. Some tweaks with the food and they’d be onto a sure thing! I appreciate they don’t use a Mr Yum-type menu as that can give the place a commercialised feel with no heart. I had the chicken schnitzel with chips and salad. Chicken was over cooked and could easily do with 5 mins less or longer. The crumb on the chicken seemed soggy/dense. They’d benefit from using panko crumbs and tenderising the chicken. Also the crumbs fell off in large pieces when cutting the chicken. The gravy was a bit thin but considering flavour was pretty good. Just needs a thicker consistency. The salad had a funky flavour and seemed like it wasn’t fresh, it was too unpleasant to eat. Also, no dressing on the salad which could be easily fixed with a simple vinaigrette. All of the above issues are relatively simple fixes so I feel like it wouldn’t take much to fix. And a lot could be applied to the chicken Parma as that’s what my friends had. I am never one to complain I have never posted a review on anything but the way she spoke to Me and made me look in front of everyone is the only reason I am posting this!! It’s 25/5 4:55pm peak hour with heaps of people around and I know it stressful having to deal with so many drunken people I genuinely take my hat off to you all but when I tried to get past 2 tables she was facing the opposite way they turned and hit me with a chair That was an accident I said sorry even though she hit me she then cracked it with me and said can you people just wait!!!
