This place is an absolute treasure of an Indian restaurant that should be on every food lover's radar. Despite being very old, the restaurant's impeccable maintenance speaks volumes about the owners' dedication to their establishment.
The authenticity of the food is what truly stands out. Every dish carries genuine Indian flavors that transport you straight to the streets of Delhi or Mumbai. While the entire menu impresses, the aloo tikki is an absolute must-try - perfectly seasoned and prepared with obvious care and tradition. And don't leave without sampling their mango ice cream for dessert, which provides the perfect sweet finish to your meal.
What elevates the experience beyond just excellent food is the remarkable service. The staff's attentiveness creates an atmosphere that makes you feel genuinely welcomed and valued. Their approach to hospitality is truly exceptional.
The people running this restaurant embody humility while displaying complete confidence in their culinary offerings - a combination that's reflected in every aspect of the dining experience. Their passion and expertise are evident in each carefully crafted dish.
For anyone seeking authentic Indian cuisine, I give this restaurant my 100% recommendation. The moment you step inside, you'll feel right at home in an environment that celebrates both tradition and hospitality. This isn't just a meal; it's a cultural experience...
Read moreWorst food, definitely not recommended! I ordered chicken biryani and samosa, biryani came without raita. I asked for the raita and they said it's separate and we have order or separately. Most of the restaurants serve biryani along with raita, don't know what's wrong here. Nonsense concept of serving biryani. And biryani was also not looking like biryani and tasted like a sad tawa rice not tasted like biryani even a little bit. Didn't found a hint and smell of whole spices. Some Onions were raw, don't know in which biryani they'll add raw onions in it. Completely not tolerable. Also in samosa potato peels were found, which'll lead to stomach upset or diarrhoea. Please serve biryani with raita and please make biryani like biryani, not something else. Ambiance was too noisy with the music. I expected a good biryani but ended up with a pathetic tawa rice. Definitely not suggested for anyone looking for authentic biryani. For this stupid tawa rice with chicken I paid $18.50, completely...
Read moreThis has been my favourite Indian restaurant in Melbourne since I first discovered it way back, in 1994!
Over the years I brought so many friends, family, colleagues, and they all loved it!
The whole experience has been the same all these years - the service, food, atmosphere all have a feel an upscale restaurant. When you add moderate pricing to that, it certainly makes it a must visit place.
It is very hard to pick a favourite dish, as all food chef Narender makes is great. Still, i may mention a few. My favourite dish has been, from the beginning, chicken pakora, but I would also highly recommend: bagare baingan (eggplant dish) onion chili kulcha (spicy stuffed bread).
I also have to mention friendly smiles of the owners Reeta and Narender Behl, which make you feel like you are visiting their home, rather than their business.
Highly...
