I genuinely don’t understand how this place has so many great reviews! I booked a reservation a week ago and attended last night, and honestly, I was really disappointed by the service. Upon arrival, we stood in the foyer for a good 2-3 minutes, and not one employee acknowledged us, despite two walking right past our group. When we were finally noticed, the server didn’t ask if we had a reservation. He just seated us at a table for six that was already reserved for someone else. Not once did he explain how the ordering process worked; he simply said, “I’ll be back in a minute,” and left us waiting.
After half an hour of doing nothing but staring at an empty table, we decided to go to the bar to place our order. While I was ordering, the server continued chatting with other people at the bar, completely ignoring me. I found this incredibly rude and unprofessional, especially since I was the one trying to place an order. We ordered food and drinks at the same time. The beers arrived quickly, but the other two drinks never came out. About 30 minutes later, our food arrived, but we still hadn’t received the missing drinks. At that point, we had to ask the server about them.
My husband ordered the Sher Wagyu MS8-9 Beef Brisket, which was supposed to come with house pickles, BBQ sauce, and a milk bun. However, when it arrived, it was literally just a plate of those ingredients, no assembly or “burger” made for you. It felt very underwhelming, especially considering the description. Honestly, we didn’t expect to be the ones putting the “ingredients” together ourselves. For the price and the expectations set by the menu, it didn’t hit the mark at all. The brisket was dry, and while the BBQ sauce and pickles had potential, it felt like the dish missed the mark on what we thought we were getting.
As for the hamburger, described on the menu as a "Wagyu beef burger with pickles, chipotle mayo, cheese, lettuce, and chips," it was a total disappointment. The burger itself was dry, burnt, and tasteless. Instead of the chipotle mayo, it came with just regular mayo, and the fresh jalapeños on top completely threw off the flavor. It certainly wasn’t the “smoked chili sauce” we were expecting.
The only saving grace was the pumpkin pasta that my friend and I had. It was creamy with just the right touch of sweetness and crunch from the Italian biscuit, which was a nice addition. But overall, the disappointing service and lackluster food really left...

Brick Lane is an independent brewery with a home base and brewhouse in Dandenong, as well as the Shed and the newly opened double-story bar and restaurant we visited, located conveniently at Queen Victoria Market.
This venue features a 120 dining room, open kitchen, raw bar, 16 seat private dining room and 150 seat terrace overlooking the market - perfect for summer days and nights.
There are 36 beer taps with something all taste profiles and occasions, spanning from the everyday refreshment to the super special limited releases. If beers not your thing, the cocktails and mocktails are great! 🍺
Our favourites were the Oysters with Pomegranate (even though they were tiny) and the King Ora Salmon, which had an addition of orange which was extra refreshing! 🤩
For mains the Lamb Shoulder was very tender, fatty and fell apart. Personally I would’ve love the outer to have been more crisp. The Romano Salad was dressed nicely and the Buttery - both were very simple. To finish the Chocolate Parfait and Mandarin Gelato was great, it almost tasted like the Milo ice cream. 🤤
Impressed with this one. There were a few dishes I wouldn’t usually have picked so I will definitely be back to try some others. They have some great weekly deals:
🐟 Tuesday - ‘Sea-To-Plate’ a seafood-driven main course that changes weekly 👩🏽🌾 Thursday - ‘Market Fresh’ is a main course that changes weekly. This is be something fresh and vibrant straight from QVM 🦪 Sunday – ‘Summer Sunday’ $2.50 Oysters & $9 pints of Brick Lane’s core range of beers 🍻 Happy Hour – 4-6:30pm $9 pints, $9 wines and a $15 cocktail of the week

Read moreBrick Lane Market opened Upstairs late last year across from the QV Market. They have 36 beer taps (they are our second largest Independent Victorian Brewer), a 120-seat dining room, an open kitchen, a raw/oyster bar, private dining room, and a huge sunny terrace overlooking the market.
The fitout is great, loads of tables but not crammed in - plus the ability to cater for big groups on one table. It has a casual pub vibe with a menu that celebrates the best of Victorian producers, plus daily specials.
We went on Sunday afternoon where you can indulge in $2.50 oysters 😳😳😳 and $9 pints. Seriously where else can you eat your body weight in market-fresh oysters for TWO DOLLARS FIFTY EACH??? We have also been on a Tuesday evening for their 'Sea-To-Plate' night and a delicious seafood-driven main course curated by Chef Ankit Padmani and his team. Plus they also have a daily Happy Hour from 4-6:30 pm with $9 pints, $9 wines and $15 cocktail of the week.
This is such a great addition to the market area. The food is AMAZING and we loved the vibe of the venue plus awesome beers and perfect cocktails. This is definitely one that will be on high rotation.
