You all know I love Indonesian food ! I have my top 2 Indonesian restaurants already so I wanted to go here after hearing my brother mention them 💕 . . . Truly one of reasons I keep visiting my fave place is because the Iga Bakar is so spot on, it’s so soft and slow cooked and @pondokrempahcbd unfortunately missed the mark for Iga bakar. I got heaps of Fat , no meat and had to order $10 of extra meat to have a taste and unbelievable it was Burnt! .. The chicken disk was quite good and tender but the Iga bakar was really chewy, fried and Charcoal Burnt...
So I wouldn’t rate anyone to get their Iga / Beef options but you can try their chicken /Ayam penyet options . Also they were out of most of the soft drinks and could not provide them upon request.
generally I am all for supporting local and smallbuisness 💕 however, The consistency is just not there for the Price it’s similar to their competitors. #food is spicy enough 🔥 but really lacking the Salt, and tenderness.
For my unbiased opinion I shared my extra Iga with my Brother and Partner and Both of them mentioned the same taste and was unimpressed. So that’s 3 people reporting on the same dish. I would truly recommend @yoi.au and @ria_melb for their unparalleled food and customer service and have yet to find another Indonesian place that comes as close to their ambience, quality and service !!
For the review they should have acknowledged and offered compensation or voucher but nope nothing. That’s where the difference in service excels with...
Read moreOrdered Chicken Nasi Goreng and paid $19.08 (includes 10% card surcharges). Gotta say the portion size was amazing and if you cannot finish more than 2 -3 cups of rice by yourself then I suggest you order to share between two people. It was a lot for me but I managed to finish it slowly cause it tasted authentic and had good flavour. One negative would be there were very less meat/chicken in this and veggies. Authentic nasi goreng should include carrots, cucumber, tomatoes etc. For price being high they need add more meat and veggies. I asked to make it spicy and they actually made it just right and not too spicy which I loved. I wish the price was a bit cheaper. My hunt for great Nasi Goreng doesn't stop here. However this was a bit better than some of the restaurants I have tried but nothing beats es teler 77 that used to be at melbourne central and I used to pay $13.50 for it and sadly it's closed down now..they had the best nasi goreng in Melbourne which included a soup too for that price! I did not get to try other items from the menu even though they did have a big menu and prices were too expensive here. I wouldn't return again due to prices being high here and if I was to order drinks/dessert it would be too expensive when I can have it cheaper at other...
Read moreMy first time eating at an Indonesian restaurant, after having tried so many cuisines, and I'm glad it was with Pondok Rempah I was walking around CBD looking for a good option for dinner, when I passed by this restaurant, noticed it was popular (including with Indonesians), had a closer look, and went for it They have a very extensive menu, around 20 pages, plenty of options of meals mainly, but also appetizers, desserts, and drinks I personally ordered seafood salt pepper (squid, scallops, prawns, with rice and omelette), and upon request it was made less spicy that it usually is, which made it well enjoyable for me knowing spicy food can be a problem. To go with eat I had Es Markisa Kelapa Muda, a passion fruit drink with chia seeds and young coconut meat, ideal with people with a sweet tooth And as a dessert I had Kolak, which is made of banana, pumpkin, sweet potato, palm sugar and coconut milk, and is warm Students get 10% discount, a nice, and rare, thought Staff, starting by the cook, is well friendly Yummy food, lots of choice, friendly staff I definitely...
