Burger Road (Burnside) — Restaurant in Melbourne

I'm not sure what's happening over at Burger Road or if there's new owners or new chefs, but the quality of the food has gone WAY down hill.

Presentation looked good initially, but as you can see in one of the photos it's basically a slop of sauces and juices from what seemed to be a weird tasting purple pickled coleslaw. While my partner powered through it, I gave up after a couple of bites.

We also ordered the Mac and Cheese bites and I can only assume that the thick dusting of powdered cheese was intended to cover all the missing crumb and half cold macaroni (there were even some icy spots in one of them). Tried to eat them and gave up partway through the second one.

Chips were chips, hard to mess that up, but still not my favourite.

Really disappointed as this was previously one of our go to places. I'd left a positive review in the past which seems to be gone now, but perhaps that just leans into the change of ownership.

You might be like "well why didn't I say anything while I was there", which is a fair question and if you understand anything about the spoon theory, I had no spoons left...

I'll cut to the chase: this place deserves their high rating not only for the quality of the food, but for the customer experience as well. Had a craving for a burger the other day, and this was my 1st time there, so I just ordered a basic burger (can't remember the menu name), added bacon & chips. The Waygu beef was hot, with excellent flavor on a nicely flavored milk bun. Topping it was melted cheese, thick sliced pickles, thick bacon, ketchup & mustard. The chips were sea salted, and like the burger, hot & excellent. Just the right combination of crispy & salt. All of the guys working were friendly, outgoing and very helpful. This was a nice burger dinner. I ordered the meal for two with the Hot Rod burger and Truffle burger. The meal for two is a great deal considering they don’t charge extra for the type of burger you choose (i.e you can choose the more expensive burger but the price of the meal would still be the same). My one criticism on the burgers is that, the burger is quite pricey but doesn’t really fill you up. Also the chips were soggy (though that may be because we had the food delivered).

Moving onto the actual burgers. The truffle burger is a 10/10 very delicious do recommend. The hot rod was ok, the jalapeños added a nice spice, but overall very simple.
