C9 Chocolate & Gelato Hawthorn — Restaurant in Melbourne

I recently visited the C9 parlor that I must say, I was thoroughly impressed with my experience. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm welcome from the friendly staff and a cozy, inviting atmosphere.

The coffee selection was extensive and expertly crafted by the skilled baristas. I tried the house blend and it was perfectly balanced with a rich, smooth flavor that left me wanting more. The ice cream selection was equally impressive, with a wide variety of flavors and toppings to choose from. I opted for the classic chocolate and it was creamy, decadent and just the right amount of sweetness.

What sets this place apart from other coffee shops and ice cream parlors is the attention to detail and the commitment to using high-quality, locally-sourced ingredients. I appreciated the transparency and the effort that went into sourcing the ingredients, which really showed in the taste and quality of the products.

Tried four different flavours of gelato and it was all disappointing.

Coconut - very icy, tasted mostly of aniseed and not much of a coconut flavour. I suspect too much essence in the recipe.

Chocolate Brownie - No chocolate flavour, but it did overwhelmingly taste like hazelnut.

Peanut/Snickers - icy & watery.

Salted Caramel - basically just sweet and a bit watery.

Didn't finish any of it.

I actually took mine back to the store to ask about the flavours... the two guys working didn't understand what I was asking about; getting confused between what I had already tasted and what I wanted. I think they offered an exchange, but I had no confidence in the rest of their wares, so I left.

The coconut hot chocolate is the best!

There’s a bit of a smaller variety of gelato flavours than some places, but it’s worth it. I haven’t tried one which wasn’t delicious, even taro.

They were nice enough to send me a $6 UberEats voucher to use for giving them a good review on there. I would like to let whoever is reading this from C9 know however that there is no way to use the voucher. UberEats does not enable it for use no matter how much money I put in the cart and I even tried other locations.

Another time I had a whole dessert banquet in store and I look forward to trying the rest of the range...
