Cafe Claremont — Restaurant in Melbourne

Upon arrival the three of us found a newly vacated table for four. As we went towards it, the owner (I assume) with a less than smily welcoming presence met us and firmly asked we do not proceed but to wait to be seated. So we waited and soon after shown to the same table.

The food and coffee was brought in a reasonable time frame.

The food we ordered was very good and no complaints but compliments here.

I also ordered a almond milk hot chocolate.

It wasn’t till half way through the hot chocolate I wondered if it was almond milk. The waitress check my order and confirmed I ordered almond milk but didn’t check with the barista. I can confirm it was cows milk!!!!

After we had finished our meals my brother asked for the bill and was met by a sour face. It could have been we should have gone to the counter to pay but instead of being advised of that.. the sour response continued.

Not to sure what happened with breakfast today. By all accounts this place is good, but we were disappointed. Bacon was well over (bitter from the char), as was the scrambled egg, over cooked to where it isn’t creamy anymore, zucchini fritter very boring & even the Chai Latte was lacking flavor. Coffee was great but I think the kitchen needs a wake up. Also, this part is subjective but middle bacon? Surely when people go out for brunch they want streaky bacon.

Given the decent coffee and obvious following by locals this place has lots of potential but the feeling was our food showed a lack of love from the kitchen.

Typically I would just let the staff know, we did say the it was average but it’s been a busy week and with so many things wrong today I didn’t have the patients to raise this...

Had always been curious about trying this Cafe, and took a client for a coffee. The person serving us made us feel most unwelcome for only ordering coffees. Within half an hour we were told our table would be needed soon, and we hadn't even been served our drinks. We had to ask where our drinks were, no apology was provided for forgetting. They were not full house to necessitate such behaviour as there was a spare table beside us, and no one queuing up. Regardless, it's very poor customer service, and responding with a defensive reply just reflects our serice experience. Master of none round the corner is much friendlier and welcoming, as is the Green Goose which has delicious food and...
